Historically, McLemore becomes only the second Jayhawk in the 17-year history of the Big 12 to have earned Big 12 Player and Rookie of the Week in the same season. Mario Chalmers also accomplished the feat during the 2005-06 season. McLemore becomes the third different Jayhawk to be named Big 12 Player of the Week this season. He joins KU seniors Travis Releford (Nov. 26) and Jeff Withey (Dec. 3). This is the second-straight season Kansas has had three different players earn the weekly honor. Last year, KU had four different players named Big 12 Player of the Week - Releford, Withey, Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor - which was a Big 12 first for one season.

Kansas moved up to No. 4 in both the Associated Press poll and the USA Today Coaches' poll released Jan. 14. Let's go hawks!

Mr. Laz 01-19-2013 01:09 PM

Foul trouble for Texas down low already

Mr. Laz 01-19-2013 01:13 PM

EJ has to get his shit together

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 01:18 PM

So far lifeless.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 01:20 PM

KU comes out flat again....

Mr. Laz 01-19-2013 01:21 PM

This team can play up or down with just about anyone.

it's become a habit

EJ has turned into TT jr.

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 01:22 PM

Just horrible, going through the motions but the lights aren't on.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 01:22 PM

KU's offense is just putrid.

CoMoChief 01-19-2013 01:30 PM

This team has kinda hit a plateau the past couple weeks.

They need to kick it up a notch

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 01:33 PM

Our defense sucks today...no idea why....stuck in cement. It's not like the Longhorns are playing great because they are not.

If EJ became anything like TT offensively, he'd be a better player for it and the team would be much better off.

I worried about this a bit. Texas' defense is elite and KU is having trouble getting good shots against it. KU's defense is lazy too so far, but that's par for the course.

Looked to me like a lot of the time we just aren't moving the ball around very well and taking a few shots too quickly.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 01:37 PM

 Young made 2 straight free throws.

Dr. Johnny Fever 01-19-2013 01:39 PM

Young should go with corn rows or something so he looks a little more badass and a little less total dork.

Little patience, little ball movement, yep. No second chance rebounds either.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 01:40 PM

poor decision by Releford there.

We've been bad Offensive rebounders all year, more bad defense.

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 01:42 PM

lol at the no-call on Releford's layup followed by the foul call on McLemore's "push."

That wasn't a charge on Withey, either. Has to be expected on the road.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 01:43 PM

With the way Kansas is shooting the ball a 4 point Texas lead feels like 10.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-19-2013 01:44 PM

I wish we'd stop playing stupid basketball.

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 01:44 PM

Not getting any fast break points either, which is a credit to their transition defense.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-19-2013 01:49 PM

Maybe if White played more he wouldn't lay bricks. Ugh

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 01:49 PM

Largest deficit of the day, if we don't wake up it's lights out.

Dr. Johnny Fever 01-19-2013 01:50 PM

We always have to play with our food for a while before eating it. We'll consume them in the second half.

Bambi 01-19-2013 01:51 PM

Mac. hah

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 01:52 PM

Pretty sure one of the problems might be Ben McLemore taking only three shots over an entire half.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-19-2013 01:52 PM

Recruiting shooters please? Ok, thanks.

Bambi 01-19-2013 01:54 PM

A tie would have been nice but down 2 will do just fine.

KU is actually a much better shooting team than usual. McLemore, Releford, Tharpe, and Nadir all shoot the three at pretty good to great rates. Texas' tough defense is having an effect.

I agree. KU has some good shooters on this team, they just haven't been performing the last few games. Good shooting is contagious and so is poor shooting and bad shot selection. Hopefully they'll snap out of it coming out of the half.

I'm hating that long layoff after OSU.

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 02:15 PM

"Wake your ass up, Kevin." Yeah, that's pretty much what I would have told him.

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 02:15 PM

Only the 4th shot for McLemore all game. More shots.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 02:15 PM

Just keep feeding Withey and McLemore please...

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 02:20 PM

and just like that... getting away from us again. KU always gets their turnovers in bunches it seems.

or not......Kevin Young killed us giving up the three then turning it over after a horrible drive there..Huge momentum swing there.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 02:21 PM

good god guys... lets take an early shot next trip down the court before you throw it away again. It's hard to score when you don't even get a shot off.

Mr_Tomahawk 01-19-2013 02:22 PM

uh oh

KC_Connection 01-19-2013 02:22 PM

Still not dealing with their pressure on defense well. Looks like a loss at this point. This team may haven needed something like this to learn to stop playing so lazily.

Chiefs Pantalones 01-19-2013 02:22 PM

Disgusting.

chiefsfan987 01-19-2013 02:23 PM

JFC 5 straight trips down the court without even getting a shot off. I don't think with the way we shoot the ball we can come back from this.

And the trolls appear. The FT disparity has to do with the fact that KU is actually attacking the basket while Texas isn't doing that at all. Their offense is entirely jump shots off screens (which is smart considering the stopper KU has under there). I wouldn't expect any benefit of the calls on the road here.

Texas is awful. Kansas always gets the calls, it'll work out.

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 02:30 PM

WTF up with the score?

Mr_Tomahawk 01-19-2013 02:30 PM

LOL at the score ticker...

Tejas was pulling away by the millisecond.

You're confused. Kansas always gets the calls at home, not on the road. And calls wouldn't be enough to bring this game back anyway the way KU is playing.

This is what decades of butt-hurt looks like...

Don't worry, regardless of the outcome of this game Self will have a talk with the players.

Imon Yourside 01-19-2013 02:32 PM

A call on KU but we get all the calls...trolling unsuccessful.

Ceej 01-19-2013 02:33 PM

Well, ok. They are clearly benefiting from the calls today against an overall .500 team.

Hope you guys pull it out (and K-State wins) so Tuesday is a showdown of Big XII unbeatens. Don't want to play Kansas after a loss, either.

They aren't. Watch the game instead of citing FT stats and you'll get a better understanding as to what's actually going on (and more specifically, what Texas is trying to do on offense which has limited their free throw attempts).

Either way, I expect a KU victory as usual in Manhattan. Added incentive to stop being so lazy in these games would be fine.

Chief_in_Commander 01-19-2013 02:37 PM

EJ should not play the rest of the way, his worst game as a Jayhawk

Are you watching the game because I know you know more about basketball that this.

Texas is shooting jumpers almost exclusively and KU is feeding the post. Texas is playing aggressive and physical defense. KU...not so much.

Have you wondered why Jeff Withey has only one block today? Take a guess as to why that is.

Fairplay 01-19-2013 02:39 PM

I'm sorry fellas but KU is over-rated.

A wake-up call could be the best thing for them at this point.

Trolls don't need to be watching the game to troll. They also don't need to make sense.
