Fantasy Baseball Trade Analysis
 

I know we did something like this for football so I figured we may as well have a thread for it here as well. Does this seem as completely one-sided to you as it does to me?

Send James Shields, KC SP from SP to HARP
Send Brian Dozier, MIN 2B from UTIL to HARP

Receive Daniel Murphy, NYM 2B from HARP to Bench
Receive Jose Valverde, NYM RP from HARP to Bench

It's not horrible because Murphy is a much better option than Dozier but I still wouldn't do it. Shields is underrated and Valverde is just a couple of bad outings from not being the closer.

Team A receives Adam Jones, Max Scherzer, Corey Kluber

Team B receives Shields, Lester, Hamels, Napoli

CG and Shutouts are categories in the league.

Which team wins the trade?

Oh i should've mentioned that Dozier is the last option off my bench. My starting 2B is Kipnis.

What would be the backup taking Jones place and who would be taking Napoli's place?

Napoli is a FA that would fill in at first, Trumbo would move to OF to replace Jones.

How about this

Team A receives Adam Jones, Scherzer, Lawrie
Team B gets Cliff Lee, Tanaka, Sonny Gray and will pick up Napoli

You are in a league that has Napoli on the waiver wire???

Depends a lot on if you need pitching depth/keeper but i'd probably take Team B's side.

Highly competitive 12 team keeper league, kind of surprising but I guess 1st baseman are deep

Yeah I'm team B and I definitely could use pitching. Everybody in the league thinks I'm getting hosed

I'm not a huge fan of Lawrie. Jones and Scherzer are tough to take though.

The way I look at it is I'm trading one great pitcher for another great one and two very good ones. Napoli isn't as good as Jones obviously but other than average and some steals they're not too far off from one another. It's not that much of a drop off I don't think and my pitching gets significantly better

Depends on scoring. If your league has OBP as a category, Jones' value is diminished. Overall, given Scherzer's K-rate, the team he plays for, and his divisional opponents, I don't know how you can trade him, especially if it's a H2H league where he could single-handedly win a week for you.

My closer is Balfour.

My pitching staff outside of him is Kershaw, King Felix, Greinke, Tim Hudson, Buerhle, Bruce ****ing Chen, Drew Smyly, Yovani Gallardo and Scott Kazmir.
