Has 'How I Never Met Your Mother" been on TV 7 years already? Wow. It definitely got shitty a few years ago but for some reason, I still watch it.
|
Next season needs to be the last. It has run its course.

Ted is supposed to meet the mother at this wedding. |

The kids will have been adopted. So who Ted marries is irrelevant. That will be the twist in the last episode and everyone will be pissed.

I just finished season 7 and I am pissed.

On the other, the fact Barney is such an awesome character bails the creator out because your lead character shouldn't be hated more than short stretches at a time. |
It's funny to me that people still think Barney is such a great character. Maybe he was for the first couple of seasons, but his shtick has gotten old.
Same goofy stunts every episode. Booooooooring. That show jumped the shark about 3 seasons ago. |

When you think this show is going to turn left it tries really hard to make you think it's going to turn right, and then it turns left.

Wow, that was nuts.

Bump: so season 8 premiered tonight and is already up on CBS for streaming...
I guess it's a good segue into the season considering the events from 4 months ago..
Spoiler!

Band of Horses - took two notes to know that we were headed for a dramatic conclusion to the episode.
Cool that Klaus was Batman's Doctor. Funny guy. Has anyone read his and Ben Garant's book on how to make a shit ton of money making shitty movies? http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/writ...non/1100406095 |
That's Thomas Lennon. He's been in a LOT of stuff.

Ever seen him appear on Craig Ferguson? Always comedy gold, never fails. |
Now the wait for the next episode in mid january

Anyone catch that Jayma Mays'/Coat Check Girl's/Mother's BF was The Hulk's son.
Louis - Lou Ferrigno Jr. How weird that it looks like that the Glee love interest becomes the HIMYM love interest at long last? I spent to the credits half-convinced that that was Abby Elloitt, knowing that that was too frail a frame for AE and thinking it weird that someone who wasn't even on TV's radar when the show started would be the lynchpin. Jayma makes sense, I guess. |

I can't believe they pulled the rabbit out of their hat in such a way.
Also, good way to dramatically pull things together after a few lackluster last episodes. I didn't think I'd like it but I didn't think there'd be a revelation. |
Ready for HIMYM to end..they let this thing go on but shallow comedies that I like such as Rules of Engagement get cancelled. Those bastards are going to make David Spade have to make Grown Ups 3, its sad
|
Agreed. Next season should be its last.
|
It will be. And if Redditors are conjecturing correctly, the last season might take place in the span of two and a half days.

Anyways, I dont know why they are holding out on the mother this long. they shoudl have revealed her a few years back then just had some storylines with her and ended it with them getting married which could have been this year or next. ****ing stupid the way they did this. It used to be one of my favorite shows, then it went to complete crap. |
Quote:
That blows. Just started watching it late last year. |
I read it: How I met Direckshuns whore mother.
|
The mother isn't hot. At all.

Thin lips, big forehead, cruddy bone structure, characterless/dead eyes. There really is next to nothing attractive about that person. |

I think it makes sense she's not a "dime piece." it works on the level that the women he's dated before are all hot as a product of Ted's status as an unreliable narrator. As well, it goes to show that it's chemistry over surface attraction that proves to the audience that she's the one.

This is the final season correct? I liked this show early on, now I'm ready for it to be over.
|
I have no idea how they are going to stretch the entire wedding weekend into 24 episodes. Ballsy to say the least.
|
This is still on?

I liked the premiere; feels just like the best parts of season 8. The only part that seemed forced was the scenes with Marshall which seems to be a penchant of the series as of late.
Spoiler!
Yeah, I'm a fanboy. dealwithit.gif |
Wow.
This season is going to suck. A lot. This feels like the last season of the office; it'll be a weekly battle to get through it. |

I really like the mother character. Really hard character not to like. Problem is, the show just isn't as clever as it used to be. The plot lines yesterday felt way too contrived. They should have taken the hint from Breaking Bad and wrapped it up while the iron was hot. |

The final scene where Ted was sitting with future wife at the bar in the hotel....after Ted has his nice little speech even my wife (who loves the show) turns and says "That's was really gay."
Looking forward to the end so that I can be pissed off about all the time I wasted watching it. If not for Barney, I would have ended a long time ago. |

And I bet they're saving one last twist for the end. |

S6 set the trend of having really good episodes with ones that fall flat, and also the repercussions of ending Barney/Robin in the previous season. If Carter/Bays intended for those two to end up together and therefore the reason why Ted meets the Mother, then it should've been set in stone they'd restart their relationship by the end of Season 5. Season 6 *should* be what we're seeing now. Blah. It's annoying. I look at things through rosier glasses because I started watching reruns of the show on TV in 2011 then Netflix'ed to the point I caught up by the time "Symphony of Illumination" aired. I don't have the fatigue that most tenured fans have had at this point, but at the same time I can see just how much some episodes have done nothing to advance the plot. (IE the entirety of the Zoe arc, the Quinn/Barney Arc, Lily and Marshall's relocation to Long Island, most eps of Season 8's first half) |
I only ever watched this show because Neal Patrick Harris is so funny and Alyson Hannigan is so hot, and that was only from stumbling across it while switching channels before I got Netflix.
