NBA basketball is about as hard a sport as there is to referee. Depending on teh angle, etc. then flopping can definitely WORK. The ref calls the foul, it can influence games, etc. The point of the anti-flopping rule is that the NBA can review film and then decide AFTERWARDS that a flop occurred, and penalize the player. I like it. Not that I care that much about the sport, but the soccer-ization of the NBA must stop. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/WWRjyUzPX70" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Penalties aren't harsh enough. FIVE flops in a season ought to be an automatic suspension for a game (and loss of a game check). Then three games for another suspension, then two from there out.
$5K won't hurt much, but a game check would... |

A guy like Wade has insane ability. He can drive to the basket and while surrounded by bodies he'll toss that ball up and contort his body in a way that it appears he's fouled. Then you watch the replay and find out nobody touched him, but he sold it and the ref can't even tell. To them, it LOOKS like a foul. |
What is this NBA you speak of?

My dad tells me stories of how he watched the KC Kings at home in the early 80's, his co. occasionaly gave him courtside tix and he described the ferocious play and how physical those guys got with each other, especially in the paint. The NBA has gone from Mr. T to Paris Hilton.
