What is something that is secretly cool about your job?
 

I'm not talking about salary or vacation benefits. I'm talking about stuff that's not obvious to an outsider and will never be mentioned as a benefit, but nonetheless it's kind of cool and brings you a little enjoyment in your workday.

For me, a secret cool thing is that I get to go behind the scenes at tons of jobs. I've gotten to tour the back operations at everything from jails to caulk factories to college presidents' offices, and I get to hear about their industries and challenges and how they view the world. I really like doing this.

Another secret cool thing is that when we do focus groups we often get to take home pizza and brownies.

The third cool thing is that I get to know all sorts of great internet places for data. I'm always hunting around and finding odd data sets. Granted, not everyone may think that's cool, but I do.


What about y'all?

I help design and support a super high visibility product that is on the absolute cutting edge of technology.

I get to evaluate consultants. But they don't know it.

Do they ever let you drive the Curiosity rover?

No, but I've seen people accidentally knock over satellites. :D

I get all the free blank DVDs I want.

I rarely have to show up anywhere.

I wear a tshirt and sandals in the office

I have a window.

I get to inhale nitrous oxide whenever I want.

Sometimes I post stuff on a football website and argue with dipshits on the DC forum.

I take off as much time as I want... which is A LOT... and can work whenever I feel like it.. and for however long a specific job takes. (usually no more than a week to complete each objective) :D

Several cool things about my job;

1. We drink beers every Friday at our weekly sales meetings and sometimes we have food paid for by the company.

2. ALL my gas and tolls for my car is paid since the day I started-no record keeping on mileage or where I'm going, just receipts. All my appts are on the calendar. This has saved me a ton since I started especially on personal trips.

3. All my cell phone bills are paid by the company.

4. I don't report to an office expect for our weekly sales meetings.

5. Computer and internet paid for by company.

6. All the coffee, snacks, and other items in our kitchen in our satellite office, where I work from, is free.

7. My medical plan is both paid for and fantastic

Overall a great place to work for and our company has a market niche that is unique with an easy sell.....
