I am sure this has been done at least once in CP's history, but there are a lot of N99bs here now, and what the f, I just feel like posting it anyway.

I like "Rocky Top" too.

Please feel free to name a write in choice, lmao. This poll could have had 20 or more options.

Between those listed, I vote for USC.

KU's Rock Chalk Jayhawk is one of the best known chants in the nation. It originated during WW1.

The school fight song is "The Victors," and was declared by John Philip Sousa as "the greatest college fight song ever written." The School song is "The Yellow and Blue." A common rally cry at Michigan football games is "Go Blue."

I thought it predated WW1. The story goes that the king of Sweden asked a group of American Olympic athletes at the '12 Stockholm games what a tradition American cheer was and the unanimous response was the Rock Chalk Chant. I believe it was actually invented by the KU Chemistry club who was travelling home on a train in the late 1800's and they made a chant to match the click-clack of the train using words meaningful to Mt. Oread. At least that's the story I remember.

As for fight songs, Rocky Top is a good one. Of course my bias votes for the KU fight song, but a regional choice is the Penn State fight song. It is actually pretty good, and the Penn State Blue Band is one of the best in the nation. They do some cool stuff at home games, like break off into little trumpet groups. The groups will line up on the stairs of the stadium and trumpet the fight song. Scares the shit out of you. Also after PSU scores a TD, they play to a point where the song stops, the band pauses and waits for the extra point to go through, then finishes the song. Pretty cool.

Our fight song at Fresno state sucked, our HS fight song was better. Of course, when I went to HS in the early 80's our HS program was ranked as high as #2 in the State of California, large schools. If it wasn't for an upset loss in the sectional semi's that year, my Alma matter would have cracked the USA today top 25 prep poll.

BTW, I didn't care much for UofA's "Bear Down" thing either. Sorry jAZ.
