WV 09-26-2012 07:27 AM

This week will show a lot about WV. The MD game wasn't a great barometer because of the rivalry, but it did show some deficiencies in the offense and defense. Baylor isn't what they were with RGIII, but they are no slouch.

Old Dog 09-26-2012 07:57 AM

Whole lot of "not worth watching" on that slate

RustShack 09-26-2012 11:57 AM

Texas Tech @ Iowa State is pretty worth watching. Tech9 even made an Iowa State rap song!

This might be the worst weekend for college ball this year.

Ugh.

Saulbadguy 09-26-2012 11:59 AM

Football? This weekend?

El Jefe 09-26-2012 12:01 PM

The OSU vs MSU game is the only game with two ranked opponents this week. As a Buckeye fan let me tell you, this game could be a snoozer. If you are willing to watch the first quarter and it turns out competitively it may not be a bad game to watch. OSU is not a top 25 team right now, and MSU is not a top 20 team right now. It's a battle of the bads IMO.

El Jefe 09-26-2012 12:02 PM

^ I stand corrected WVU vs Baylor is a two ranked match. My apologies.

Reerun_KC 09-26-2012 12:03 PM

Damn the "scary smarts" are gonna come in and blast KU...

I hope we can keep it within 40...

RustShack 09-26-2012 12:03 PM

Ames even made the final five cut for College Gameday this week, and we are only playing Tech LMAO

RustShack 09-26-2012 12:05 PM

So will Iowa State @ TCU be bolded next week since it will be two ranked teams?

It will be boring as shit. In fact, I wouldn't even bold it. Not worth watching.

Frosty 09-26-2012 12:09 PM

I wish I could watch the #18 team play this weekend. Thanks DirecTV! 4321

notorious 09-26-2012 12:11 PM

Tenn at Georgia might be worth it.

Texas getting upset at OSU might be worth it, too.

No. They said they offer plenty of other football to watch so didn't need to carry it. :spock: Dish has it but then I can't get Sunday Ticket.

NewChief 09-26-2012 12:30 PM

I don't know what you guys are talking about. College football season is over for the year.

Fire Jeff Long. Fire John L. Smth. Hire Petrino!

At one time, that crowd were the nutjobs. Unfortunately, this season has "proven" them right, so they have renewed vigor and, in their minds, justification.

Sports radio is absolutely unbearable around here.

But hell...I'm ecstatic. After the ULM loss, I decided to spend every weekend in the woods instead of glued to a TV set or tailgating. I haven't regretted the decision yet.

You could always turn it around this weekend.

Maybe for your team. Is Tevin Mitchell ever going to play again? Sad to see what happened to him seems like a good kid.

Texas Tech has the #1 defense, and #2 offense?

Misleading stats due to playing total inferior opponents.

And on that note, Stanford lost to Washington. #8 ranked team bites the dust.

Unsmooth-Moment 09-28-2012 12:04 AM

Whole lotta bleh. I will watch the Baylor/WV game, but thats probably it.

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 09:06 AM

bumpski

get a little Geno porn early, then go enjoy the day

KCUnited 09-29-2012 10:28 AM

TD WV

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 10:39 AM

gross

arkansas defender projectile vomited while lying on his back

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 10:44 AM

smith lazer right through 2 defenders

WV's defense blows...but smith is fun to watch

a couple of short passes and then they nail you right down the middle of the field

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 10:47 AM

smith td off back foot as he's getting hit...perfect placement

the guy doesn't spook

mr. tegu 09-29-2012 11:10 AM

West Virginia fits in perfectly with the Big 12 with the great offense and no defense.

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 11:15 AM

smith with a perfectly thrown 47 yard td

jesus

Nightfyre 09-29-2012 11:18 AM

Smith dropped that pass in the bread basket from like 50 yards.

WilliamTheIrish 09-29-2012 11:20 AM

That was a great pass. And while I type Baylor scores again.

Pasta Little Brioni 09-29-2012 11:22 AM

But, how are his handoffs? Matty Ballgame can do it like no other ;)

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 11:30 AM

4th td pass for smith

this game is basically colts/chiefs

WV's defense is as bad as their offense is good

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 11:41 AM

I'm losing count

td 5 for smith

OMG !

The Baylor QB was past the LOS

Baylor's defense is essentially an _efense.

I don't see the relevance. Mostly because I am watching the game and Smith is making excellent throws to guys who are "NFL Open"

alnorth 09-29-2012 11:47 AM

The over-under on this game was a hilariously, unbelievably high 84 points...

...and they almost got there in one half.

I'm saying to take it with a grain of salt. Defensive much?

I'm on the Geno Smith bandwagon at this point. I think he's best of the QB's likely to come out.

baylor's defense has nothing to do with the quality of the passes he is throwing....

he's actually been pressured and still delivered strikes

milkman 09-29-2012 11:50 AM

That fade at the end of the half by Smith can not be thrown any better.

But I do have to ask, when did the Big 12 outlaw defense?

qabbaan 09-29-2012 11:50 AM

Dozens of people showed up again today to see Miami

Wow. The second half over/under is a meager 45 points.

mr. tegu 09-29-2012 11:51 AM

Smith's yards are inflated by the YAC and poor defense, but he is making really good passes to guys that aren't always wide open.

He's a great player. But he'd at least have to try against a real defense.

alnorth 09-29-2012 11:55 AM

Wasn't sure what the rule was on throwing with part of your body and the ball past the LOS. Apparently if any part of your body is behind, its legal, and his back foot was on the 33, so the refs got it right.

alnorth 09-29-2012 12:30 PM

We're now right on the over-under with tons of time left in the 3rd quarter

saphojunkie 09-29-2012 12:54 PM

Why does every single college QB look like an upgrade over Cassel? How do we have the only QB that plays on Sat/Sun that can't throw a strike 30 yards over the top?

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 01:10 PM

LMAO

td 7 for smith

and yes, that one was a gimme...wow

the Talking Can 09-29-2012 01:20 PM

1300 yards of offense

just started 4th quarter

mr. tegu 09-29-2012 01:25 PM

Big 12 football puts up more points than Big 10 basketball! LOL

mr. tegu 09-29-2012 01:27 PM

Baylor's DBs are so scared of the deep ball they give like 10 yards of cushion every play and still back up presnap.

Al Bundy 09-29-2012 01:48 PM

North Carolina State with the super fail...

Al Bundy 09-29-2012 01:50 PM

Miami's QB broke the school record for passing yards against NC State.

Don't let this game fool you. There's several good defenses in the Big 12.

Ahh, I got up this morning and went fishing. Then took my kids on a hike through the first half. Brought them home, cooked lunch, and just hopped in the sack for a little "nap" with the wife. Now I'm going to start working on some pizza dough and drinking a few beers.

Sad, I know, but it has been somewhat liberating.

WVU-Baylor game, summed up in one sentence:

Quote:

Baylor’s Terrance Williams set a Big 12 record with 314 yards receiving. The old mark was set minutes earlier by West Virginia’s Stedman Bailey, who had 303 yards and five TDs.

I believe he shows legit flashes that will become the norm once he no longer plays for white Herm.
