“AFL 50TH” DOUBLEHEADER LAUNCHES MNF SCHEDULE
Posted by Mike Florio on March 23, 2009, 4:16 p.m.

Breaking from a recent trend that featured two teams from the NFC and two teams from the AFC in the Week One Monday night doubleheader, the league is turning over the evening to the old AFL.

The evening begins with the Bills traveling to New England, and it concludes with the Raiders hosting the Chargers.

For the games, the teams will wear their AFL throwback uniforms.

ESPN will televise both games, beginning at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
Seriously, Chiefs deserve to be in one of the two games that day. No matter what our record was, we deserve to be part of the anniversarry of the AFL. Without Lamar Hunt, the AFL would have never existed and modern day NFL wouldnt be what it is. They should honor his legacy by having the Chiefs play that day. If not for that, just so we could get to see our chiefs have ONE primetime game. :crybaby::arrow:

I agree. We don't get no respect.

I would bet it will either be against Denver or NY Jets.....

Chiefs get no love from the national TV Gods.

Well, they won't be playing THAT night, but there's a strong possibility they could end up playing, say, the Broncos on a primetime game later in the season. I don't see why not.

I completely agree. New GM, New HC, New QB...... and the Chiefs were in nearly every game going down the stretch last year.... so, I do think they deserved this.

The Chiefs will be wearing their throwback uniforms (from when they were the Dallas Texans, with the Texas logo on the side) in three games next season.

Should be interesting, I just wish the throwbacks didn't have a giant picture of Texas on the side of the helmet.

The Raiders actually won 3 out of their last 6 and the Chargers won their last 4 reg. season games to make the playoffs and own their wildcard game before losing to the eventual SB champs. Just sayin'...

Let's see...

Our owner founded the AFL, coined the name Super Bowl, the Chiefs appeared in two of the four Super Bowls the AFL played in, they were the winningest team in the history of the AFL, they also won the televised overtime championship game in '62 that helped win over a lot of new fans to the AFL...

I'd say they might deserve mention in any tribute to the AFL...

Lamar would have done something about this. Clark obviously doesn't care, which is refreshing. He's being a part of the team rebuild the way it sounds.
