Joe Buck?

Firstly: I don't watch enough baseball to really have an opinion one way or the other.

That being said, I know people on here can't stand Joe Buck. I've been reading the hate for a while and people complaining about him commentating the series.

I woke up to local sports radio, and those guys were ALSO bashing Joe Buck. Then every caller that called in was bashing Joe Buck and saying how the technical difficulty time was so wonderful because Joe Buck wasn't on the air.

So, my question: is this a pretty universal feeling outside of Cardinals land? Has Joe Buck jumped the shark? Will the network continue to give him major gigs if there's this much dislike of the guy's commentating?

imo joe buck isn't that popular in cardinals land.

It's not just Royals fans.

NO ONE likes Joe Buck.

People are whiny b*tches. A lot of them hang out on this board. Mainly Joe just calls the game like any other announcer. People are lame. Joe Buck is just doing his job. That being said he is not my favorite. But hate? Stupid people can't keep things in perspective.

Everybody bashes him. For everything.

It means he's doing his job well.

That's . . . not what that means.

Him and Aikman are two of my least favorite when calling an NFL game.
Followed by Dan Fouts, and Solomon Wilcotts.

Chris colinsworth on the other hand, good lord. His voice and football take are like nails on a chalk board. Hate, though? Football announcers aren't important enough to hate. Perspective people, perspective.

Well, that's true. But there are plenty of commentators/on-air personalities that don't engender hatred from ALL corners.

The hate comes from how he uses his voice.

When he points out an issue with the Royals, Mets, etc., it sounds like he is slamming or downing them. You only notice it when he speaks about your team.

FWIW, he said the Royals have the best team since the 1998 Yankees on ESPN radio midway through the Toronto series. He doesn't hate the Royals.

ChiTown 10-28-2015 06:59 AM

I've never understood the JB hate, but then again, I don't hang on everything Play-By-Play and Color Commentators say. I didn't hear their broadcast last night, so it sounded great to me:)

Strongside 10-28-2015 07:00 AM

He has an uncanny ability to make fans think he's rooting against your team no matter what. Royals fans threw a fit last year, due to his love for MadBum, but what we fail to realize is that the Giants fans were up in arms toward him as well. No matter who you are, Joe Buck hates your team.

WilliamTheIrish 10-28-2015 07:01 AM

I guess I don't really care.

I just read in the game thread that "Joe Buck sat silent, while Gordon's HR traveled through the air".

In reality, Buck saying nothing was perfect. All you needed to hear was the crack of the bat and the vibration of the stadium as it cleared 440ft.

Edit: of course that was DeBerg who said it and he's pretty much a dolt.

NewChief 10-28-2015 07:11 AM

The talk radio people were saying that he has a good voice, but that the stuff he says is idiotic. The one last night. In extra innings, "This is what it comes down to at this point. A Guy delivering a pitch. A guy trying to hit the pitch."

No shit, brah. That's been the last 12 innings as well.

And then stuff like just saying a person's name as "commentary." He'll be like, "Manny Ramirez..." And that's it.
