It's pretty clear at this point that Alex was the best move we could have made unless we were going to hope for another 2-14 season next year. As long as they don't give him an extension before he shows that he doesn't suck, I'm fine with it.

No, he's been in the league for 8 years and has proven that's he's nothing more than a mediocre QB. We've had plenty of time to watch him suck and know what is coming.

He hasn't showed he sucks already?

Cassel played 1 year, and it was a decent year before being traded to the Chiefs. He was fairly unknown.

Alex Smith on the other hand has been in the league for 8 years and hasn't done shit.
