Iron Maiden Coming to KC on 9-7-13

Quote:

IRON MAIDEN will make a brief return to the USA this September, playing seven specially selected shows en-route to Latin America where they will once again headline at the legendary Rock In Rio Festival, Brazil, on 22 September, their show there having recently sold out to 70,000 fans in just a couple of hours

These will begin with a first-ever visit to Raleigh, NC, for the opening show on September 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion followed by taking Metal back to country music capital Nashville, TN where Maiden haven't played in over twenty years, at the Bridgestone Arena on September 5th. There will also be shows in Kansas City, MO, Sprint Center on September 7th, St Louis, MO, Verizon Wireless on September 8th and the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on September 12th , all of which Maiden last visited way back in 2000 on the Brave New World Tour. Plus a return to Austin, TX for a show at the 360 Amphitheater on September 10th, the first time the band have played in that city since the original Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour twenty-five years ago!

Very special guests on all these dates will be MEGADETH.

Before they finally head south towards Brazil, Maiden will also headline a very special event at the San Manuel Amphitheater, San Bernardino, CA. The Battle Of San Bernardino will take place on Friday 13th September. Anthrax, Testament, Overkill and Sabaton will join tour special guests Megadeth for this performance only, making for a big, loud and exciting day out for Metal fans in Southern California.

Tickets for the Las Vegas and San Bernardino shows go on sale 12 April. Tickets for Raleigh, Nashville, St Louis and Austin go onsale 13 April. Tickets for Kansas City go onsale 17 May. Check local details or www.ironmaiden.com for exact on sale times.

So, who is in on this? I have never seen these guys live, and with the limited times they play in the US, I'm thinking it may be worth ponying up the money to check it out....

Lzen 04-10-2013 02:54 PM

Wow! I would love to see them. Anyone know how much are tix?

Buddy said that the sweet, up close tix are going to be 125, and that's before the Ticketmaster ass play.

These guys would probably be worth the coin. How many more times will they decide to come through these parts, you know?

mr. tegu 04-10-2013 04:04 PM

One of the best live songs ever is Fear of the Dark from Rock in Rio.

I saw them a few years ago in Dallas. It was damn good. Dream Theater opened for them, and I'm not a big fan, but they were pretty good too. I'd see Maiden if you are a fan and have the money. I loved watching Dave Murray and Adrian Smith ripping shit up live. Bruce is a great "host", as well as lead singer, of course. Pretty funny guy, and always has great energy. I've never seen him phone it in on any of the live performances I've seen.

Brock 04-10-2013 06:05 PM

This is an amazing coincidence. I also will be at the Sprint Center on September 7.

SuperChief 04-10-2013 11:08 PM

I'm definitely going. I'd be a fool to miss the opportunity.

DaneMcCloud 04-10-2013 11:15 PM

Up the Irons!

bevischief 04-12-2013 10:44 AM

I saw them when I was in high school Fear of the Dark tour at Sandstone.

Reaper16 04-12-2013 10:46 AM

I saw Iron Maiden in Chicago in 2008. They were incredible.

lcarus 04-12-2013 11:37 AM

I didn't get into Maiden until I was in my 20s. Everything before that I consider wasted years.

Halfcan 04-12-2013 11:43 AM

I will be there.

Halfcan 04-12-2013 11:44 AM

I wasnt sure they would ever play here again- last time (ten years ago)? Their was hardly anyone there- me and maybe 3000 or less people. It rocked though.

Mojo Rising 04-12-2013 10:02 PM

I have seen them twice in the last 5 years. Excellent show! For the older bands the key is the lead singer being in shape. BD nails it! I was going to see them last Summer and googled the set list and there were only 4 songs that I loved, 2 that I liked. I am sure the others were good, but for $90 before beer and parking was too rich for my blood.

It should be a $50 ticket, however, if the lead singer is going to fly his own 727 the cost does go up.

Saw them in Dallas last August. Great show, and worth the coin. My second time seeing Maiden, last time was at Sandstone, circa 2000 I think. That show was Rob Halford, Queensryche, and Maiden. Best live show I've ever been to.

Not sure any band does a better live performance.

TBH, though, wasn't really a fan then and still not.

Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter bro. Some Maiden songs are way stupid like that. I'm gonna rep ya for making me laugh on a bad day.

Consistent1 09-05-2013 04:43 PM

But then again I think I have at least two shirts and all their albums. I posted the lyrics to Die with Your Boots On to be sarcastic on another board. Really does look stupid if you look at it like that

He has a good point that they had a lot of weird lyrics, even just Sign Of the Cross and Murders in the Rue Morgue are bad enough. They kick ass for workouts and mowing yards, but Maiden was always sorta out there.

Well they are named after a torture device-lol

"Put them in the Iron Maiden"

Bill and Ted- "Rad"

"Off with their heads!"

B & T "Bogus"

Best movie line ever!

Dio- had Dragons and Wizards- btw Black Sabbath had Ferries wearing boots-lol

Sign of the Cross is about losing your faith and if you will still be saved. Murders in the Rue Morgue of course is based on the Edgar Allen Poe story of the same name.

Fantasy really doesn't come up in their lyrics very much. History mostly then Sci-Fi, and finally classical literature.

I'm now swaying towards Megadeth is better than Metallica. Yeah, I said it. come at me bro'

I saw them in October '83 on that tour too. I missed a test at school to come home and see it and it wrecked my grade in that class for the semester.

:thumb: I agree. I always thought Dave was a D bag- but if you watch the interviews lately- he is kind of a shy dude and very thankful for music. Should be a killer show- of course they are always good.

As I said I have so much Maiden shit.

I just agree with hillbilly that they come across awkward to many people.

When I was in high school I had hundreds of "metal" tapes, but would not buy Maiden stuff. I remember having metal band tournaments in 7th ****ing grade, where we had to vote on who was better. Hit Parader and Circus man. The covers were just stupid to me at the time.

But I listen to them a ton know, but all the historical and mythical stuff make his point.

Consistent1 09-06-2013 06:34 PM

Is Reaper passed out, surprised he hasn't posted yet arguing genres and shit. ha

Dayze 09-06-2013 06:36 PM

I forget what the concert is called in Netflix, nut it looked pretty recent. Sounded great.

They definitely need more run on the radio. Shocked that they don't and Metallica still is. Don't get me wrong Metallica is awesome, but megadeth is right next to them ,

No one has said anything wrong about genre yet.

I'm not going to get upset over someone not liking Iron Maiden. I've matured. People can like what they like, and I will sit back, content in the knowledge that I have better taste.

That is an awful lot of hate for a band you never have to listen to. I think it would be simpler to just ignore them.

Also, you are wrong. Try Tattooed Millionaire.

So how was the show people?

Boiled Chicken 09-08-2013 07:44 AM

Good show. Looked like Maiden brought out the old Seventh Son of a Seventh Son stage set, with a few tweaks. Aces High, Two Minutes To Midnight, Run To the Hills...all were great. Megadeth had the place rocking with Peace Sells.

Lots of kids, though. Really surprised me, but you can tell some dads taught their kids right, because they were into it and singing along. 10 year old in front of us even got in some head banging.

Awesome. I have tickets for their show this week in Vegas. Really looking forward to experiencing Maiden, but I dig Megadeth a lot too. And it's really nice to see a bunch of kids at these shows. Helps me keep the faith in society

You were hoping for Rhyme, weren't you?

Overall I enjoyed it. I had never seen them live before. I was amazed at how well Bruce's vocals sounded. His range is impressive considering his age and how long he's been at it. The entire band sounded great, too. Definitely worth it. And good lord, Megadeth was LOUD. They had the place jumping.

Not enough Eddie, though.

GloucesterChief 09-08-2013 09:45 AM

When they came through DC last year with Alice Cooper they were using the set list from Maiden England 1988 with a few tweaks ie added Fear of the Dark and took out Hallowed Be Thy Name, added Aces High and took out 22 Acacia Avenue.

Cooper sounded really good for his age. Bruce really kept himself in shape and I don't think he was a smoker so he can still hit most of the notes he could in his prime.

I really wish they would take a page from Rush's Time Machine tour and just go out and play their "hits" for a tour. Heck, if they need to take a half hour break in the middle like Rush does, I would be ok with that if they are playing a three hour set list.

Rhyme is a bit excessive for a concert (though I'm SO GLAD I got to see it liv ein 2008).

No "Hallowed By Thy Name" is a major bummer, seeing as its the best heavy metal song ever composed.

Anything off of the Fear of the Dark album NOT named "Fear of the Dark" is a mistake to include. I appreciate the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son focus, though; even if it meant that post-2000s Maiden material got neglected.

I would hope for something like the opposite, actually. When I saw Maiden in 2008, a friend and I talked afterward about the songs we'd really like to see them play that they didn't. We came up with two separate, distinct 18-song setlists that would have been worth every penny. I mean, Maiden's discography is strong.

GloucesterChief 09-08-2013 09:57 AM

Oh I am sure there are songs from every from that they never play live for various reasons. For me I like 'No Prayer for the Dying' and 'Run Silent, Run Deep' but I understand why they don't play them live as they are not the most popular.

Then again if they just played the whole Powerslave, Somewhere in Time, and Brave New World albums as a concert, it would be worth the price of admission.

Yeah, Hallowed would have been a great choice.

I was hoping for "The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg", but I knew that one wouldn't make the list. Was somewhat surprised that nothing from Brave New World or A Matter of Life and Death didn't make the set, but obviously they were sticking to their better known stuff.

Still, fun show. I am very glad I was finally able to see them.

Yep. And I'm not trying to be a "know-it-all" dickhead or something.

It's outright unlistenable. Maybe they're better live, as recording is a completely different animal.

So if they sucked on Youtube, that's what you get: They suck.

They sound like a bunch of a 11 year old kids that don't understand music.

Maybe it's a different band. I was taking about KC/DC, an AC/DC tribute band.

That's sounds like AC/DC alright.

No, it absolutely does not.

Please point out where Malcom or Angus Young has EVER played in front of the beat.

Those guys are bluesy rock players that play hella behind the beat.

KCDC is a joke.
