Need this kid in the draft!
Dont care if he smoked weed in college. He'd be awesome with Flowers and Berry and in secondary and would finally get Arenas out of punt return duties (he's awful at that). He's gotta be one of the most dynamic playmakers in the draft if not the best. I just think this kid is gonna be a star in the NFL and I want him in KC! How high will he go? Could he be had in the 3rd?

It all depends on the combine, but I would expect he doesn't check out as superman, and drops into the 5th at the highest.
He has more problems than just pot smoking and is overhyped as a corner. |
it's not about the weed, it's about being too much of a headcase to not get busted several times, costing yourself millions.
btw Arenas isn't nearly as bad as our ST blocking |
Honey badger whoop

Depends on where he goes. If he drops to 5th you must take him. I don't see him falling that far because teams with compensation picks start getting them at the end of 3rd and 4th rounds, someone will spend one of those free picks on him in the 4th, just before we get our shot at him in the top of the 5th.
|
Does he know how to wrap up?

lower 3rd round would be earliest imo ... preferably 5th-ish lack of discipline got him caught lack of discipline doesn't work well in the NFL still risky pick |
I'm hoping we take a chance on him. Someone will, and I think it will pay off. This really reminds me of Vontaze Burfict in the draft last year. Burfict had one of the most epic falls from grace that we've ever seen in the weeks leading up to draft. He had off the field issues with character and weed as well, and the Bengals probably feel pretty damn good that they took a chance on him and have, what seems to be, a quality starting LB. People get too caught up with 'character issues', IMO. Sure, you have guys that are complete idiots off the field...Pacman Jones comes to mind. But if Matheiu is shutting down routes and picking off passes in a Chiefs uniform, no one is going to remember that some pundit questioned his credibility as an individual off the field.
|
I wouldn't draft him simply because he's 5'9.

Think of it like this, if someone ever mentions the weed factor in us getting Justin Houston, it's used in a positive way because it made him able to fall to us. With Honey Badger, he either fails and is off the team, or we get to talk about him like we do about Houston. Either way, if you can get him at the top of the 5th, I think the choice is easy. |

I don't think he makes it out of the 3rd. 4th at the absolute latest. Issues be damned.
|
It's funny because Arenas played in the SEC and he was a great punt return man.

Did you see him try and defend Megatron? It was like a bear swatting away a bee. There was absolutely nothing he could do. |

like having a quality,non-smurf cornerback for certain type WR's |
95% of all d backs are under 6' so get off the size BUT you have the old LSU issue they get to the pros and they get the money and get lazy.
|
Anyone ready for the Russel Wilson hype ship to sink?
|
I don't know ...
I get a sort of Pacman vibe from The Human Honey Badger. FAX |
I don't care about Highlight videos like in the OP

At the top of the second round, both of these guys should be available (possibly):
David Amerson, CB; NC State 6'3", 200 lbs. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/N4aTUvkrnDI?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Xavier Rhodes, CB; Florida State 6'2", 215 lbs. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/fXZQs52yooI?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Both would be superb opposite of Flowers. Both are excellent at press coverage. |
Xavier Rhodes is frickin awesome.

Arenas already has match up problems, we don't need anymore short corners.
|
The guy was kicked off of the LSU team, then had more issues. He was going to return, then he wasn't.
He's a head case, plain and simple. I wouldn't be shocked to see him go undrafted. |
He is a headcase, sure. Smokes alot of dope? YEah that too.
Even after that, it isn't why I wouldn't draft him. He isn't a press corner and he's small. He doesn't have the skillset to play Cb in the NFL. He'd be a nickel, maybe not even a better nickel than Arenas, and a returner who would require a babysitter. |

He can be a backup free safety + return specialist in the NFL. An outside shot at being a starting free safety.

I'd rather have Carr.
God damn it Pioli :cuss: |
Sac makes a good point. Those are two corners I'd love to have.
I would trade up as many as 5-10 spots to grab Rhodes if necessary. He's that good |
Willing to wager he goes either in the 7th or undrafted altogether
|
I think that's been tried before and worked out really well, see Adam "Pacman" Jones.
|
Speaking of "needing _____ in the draft," can a mod put the link to the Draft Planet up on the main board?
I know it's a little early, but with a new coach and the #1 pick, it's relevant. |

We already have one midget CB starting. So no thanks.
See the Seahawks CB's. That's what we (and the rest of the NFL) needs to start going towards. |
