That's not what I have heard...

The film will be an homage to Japanese giant monster films, known as Kaiju worldwide. Del Toro has said the film will be "a beautiful poem to giant monsters".
Looks fun but I don't know much about it yet.

Not in the "Classical" sense.

It's not the "weak, frail humans" versus a monster of unknown origin. It's much cooler than that.

Looks more like Johnny Sokko and His Flying Robot.

As a die hard Godzilla fan, and kaiju films in general, I cannot wait for this movie to come out.

Dude, the trailer music is completely independent of the score.

The production company hires a composer or trailer house to score the trailer.

From wikipedia:

In a 2012 interview, screenwriter Drew Goddard gave an update saying, "I'm in, I'm ready to do it...someone call J. J. and tell him to get moving, but because Matt and J. J. and I have been fortunate enough to be busy, it's hard syncing our schedules up. We're all very passionate about returning to that world." When asked if an idea is on paper, he responded: "If you asked each of us what we wanted to do, you'll get three different answers, which is how the first film was. The aesthetic of Cloverfield benefits from that. Three voices pulling it. Look, nothing would make me happier than to get the three of us in the room to get started."[85] In a later interview in April of that same year, Goddard said, "We didn’t set out to make a franchise, we set out to make a good movie. But I love that world and that universe, so if there was an idea that excited us enough, and we felt like there was a reason to do it, we would do it."

It was complete crap.

The first 15 minutes of the "shaky camera" was horrifically bad cinema. People walked out in droves when it was in the theaters complaining of nausea.

I'm sure that's exactly what Abrams had in mind.

It saved them from 75 more minutes of a stupid cluster**** of a shit movie that no one in the world cares about.

Yeah but that different take was a rip off of the original Godzilla, Blair Witch, and Gamera 2: Attack of Legion, which was never released in the US.

The subway scene in Cloverfield was a direct rip (setting and the small monsters) from Gamera 2: Attack of Legion.

It truly is a 12 year old boy's dream movie.

Robotech/Voltron VS. Everything Ever in a Godzilla/Gamera movie.

The only thing that could make this movie rock any more would be if I got the opportunity to tell someone "YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH!" at some point in the theatre before seeing it...

GordonGekko 04-30-2013 09:05 PM

Needs to get brought back to the top.
