No way in hell will she be chosen.

Nor would Jon or Stephen. Their popularity revolves around political views. Network wouldn't touch that with a ten foot poll. Tried it with Bill Maher.

Dark horse...Ellen. Has always said she wanted to do a late night show.

She's too Oprah. no chance

Craig Ferguson is easily the best late night guy going IMO, and has been for awhile. That being said, I have serious doubts that his late night deconstruction schtick will go over well with the masses. I don't think most folks will get it.

This and snl do not even exist in my world

The article I read said it won't be Ferguson, and I can understand that on account of him being just weird. I'm not convinced Stewart will ever leave Comedy Central; Colbert, maybe. Chelsea Handler seems like a fit for me; she is even just now conveniently leaving her E! show, and in the announcement she said she'd like to do something network. Hmm.

If Ellen would do it, they'd take her in a second, I should think. She's insanely popular.

The only other person I can think of is Steve Harvey, but I think he likes where he is.

I do wonder if Leno will be a contender. It's the kind of safe play CBS would make, and it would attract the older audience.

Aries Walker 04-03-2014 10:34 PM

Nah, Leno won't do it. He's as old as Dave; if he wanted to keep talk-showing into his 70's, he would have just stayed where he was.

Jay can suck a dick and choke on a Dorito.

**** Leno.

I just can't picture Handler for some reason. She's obviously very popular on her show and I know her stand up tour draws huge crowds, but for some reason I just can't see her being Dave's successor.

If I'm CBS I have Colbert on the phone immediately.

I'm a firm believer that if it is not Ferguson it is someone who is unknown.

Moving Ferguson would be Conan part deux. His style won't fit the time slot. Steve Harvey would be great.

Chevy Chase is free again. After that, I'd probably try to re-ignite The Magic Hour and top it off with the stylings of Pat Sajak.

Anyong Bluth 04-03-2014 11:05 PM

Stern... ?

Aries Walker 04-03-2014 11:07 PM

I was also thinking Jon Oliver, but he's just starting an HBO show, and I don't think they'd put two Brits on consecutively.
