The Eagles tried to acquire Branden Albert.

Apparently when Chris Williams went off the board to Chicago, everybody knew the Chiefs were looking at Albert. The Eagles called the Cardinals in an effort to get Albert and the Cardinals not only said no but turned around and informed the Chiefs, allowing them to trade up and make sure they got him.

Interesting stuff.

We traded up to get Albert? I didn't remember that. What did we trade?

I love this kind of stuff. Interesting to see the alliances and rivalries between sports franchises and how they play out off the field. Gotta also believe it happens with regard to free agent negotiations, player agent interactions, trades, etc. Games within the game. Would love to see books written on this subject.

I think the Chiefs traded up 2 spots to grab Albert.

Albert will remain a Chief.

Also worth noting that Philly was high on McCluster on draft day which is reportedly why we pounced on him where we did, so take that for what it is worth.

Also Adam Caplan said on twitter a week ago that the Eagles tried to trade up to get Russell Wilson last year, and when that failed they ended up taking Foles obviously...
