This time I'll make sure I don't start going out with a girl and stop giving a **** about dieting because of her.

How was it her fault? I know a vegetarian who married a guy who is definitely not a vegetarian. Neither of them had to change their eating habits for the other.

You also said "because of her."

She is the reason I stopped giving a ****, not the reason I gained weight. Is that not clear?

Cause = effect

One thing I've learned for sure is that there is ALWAYS "stuff" that will cause you to stop going down the path of losing weight. It's going to happen. You can choose to let that "stuff" take you off the path or stay on your path. Free will and all that other "stuff" that makes life grand.

Yes, dear. I understand she didn't force feed you. What about her made you stop giving a ****?

Forehand is abuse. Backhand is respect. You've been backhanded.

I don't think he was blaming her personally but more the relationship effect. You try to lose weight and get in shape so you are more attractive to the opposite sex, then when you reel one in you stop trying because you got what you want. My brother is the same way, every time he gets a girlfriend he gains weight then they break up and he works to lose it so he can get another one.

Then for a lot of people going out to eat on dates takes a toll.

I'm 5'9 198lbs(I turn 40 in July). Would like to drop 10-15, but more importantly, I'd just like to be in better physical shape. I really do need some dietary guidance. Hoping you guys can help.

Lets do this!

I think If I could stop drinking beer and cut down on bread, I could really drop some weight.

Just switch to whole wheat and dont eat as much.

The fiber will help.

Eggs.
Oatmeal.
Protein powder for drink mixes as meal substitutes.

Here's a very serious question: Are there some legitimate healthy/low cal fast food options out there? My job schedule is such that I can't always eat healthy at home.
