There have been several pop culture "ups" ... when the first Dracula movie was made (the silent one - Nosferatu, maybe?) - that was huge, then about 15 years later when Bela Lugosi re-created the role, then about 40 years after that when Anne Rice's books started hitting the shelves, and now today.

The entire concept of Dracula is rich with ambiguity and symbolism ... especially of the highly sensual sort, so it makes sense that the idea will simply not die.

Just an FYI.. this movie is currently being filmed in New Orleans... I know this for a fact because one of my good friends just told me he is on set for the next 3 months as the "data lab manager" for the film. Whatever the hell that is.

This is one of the most fun books I've ever read. It's an easy read too, should make for a good movie.

Looks like most people in the thread don't realize that it was a book first....although this is a year old now.

As a vampire, I find this movie HIGHLY offensive.

I read the book about a year ago. Thought it was ok, interesting concept but the writer just didn't pull it off in my opinion. Though lots of people enjoyed the book.

Timur Bekmambetov is an interesting talent.....hes the Russian guy who made the Nightwatch and Day Watch movies....then made Wanted a few years back.

I think there's a way to make a movie called "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" be good and that doesn't look like it.

Buck 02-13-2012 12:31 PM

All the slow-mo action sequences were a bit too much for me.

When I read the book, I imagined all the fight scenes to be really gritty, not over-glorified like they are in the trailer.

I'm still going to see it because I loved the book. I'll give it a chance.

The trailer shows a completed Washington Monument, but the monument wasn't complete until the 1880s. I don't know if this is a goof or if part of the movie takes place long after Lincoln's reported death.

Did you read the book?
