The Chiefs announced a couple of significant roster moves Tuesday afternoon, placing starting guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif as well as reserve safety Armani Watts on injured reserve while signing veteran free agent outside linebacker Frank Zombo to the 53-man roster. The team also announced the movement of undrafted rookie linebacker Rob McCray to a designation of Practice Squad/Injured.

The move of Duvernay-Tardif to injured reserve doesn't come as a big surprise after he suffered a fractured fibula in Sunday's 30-14 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but placing Watts on injured reserve was unexpected and another unneeded blow to a safety position already decimated by injury. Watts, who was a fourth-round pick of the Chiefs in the 2018 NFL Draft, left Sunday's win over the Jaguars with a groin injury. Both players will be eligible to return off of injured reserve in eight weeks, although the Chiefs are only allowed by league rules to bring two players per season off injured reserve, and one of them could be safety Daniel Sorensen, who has been out since the preseason following knee surgery.

I was thinking like 4-5 weeks for LDT.

Just hope we get Tardiff back for the Playoffs

Man, that sucks. There's no way they're gonna lose LDT for the season, so that means there's no scenario where Sorensen and Watts are both on the team this year.

If the OLine is still gelling without him, you ride it...
But yeah... He may be able to get back by the Ravens or Chargers game.

Does this mean they can use one of their pull off IR early cards on LDT?

I guess the doctors couldn't bluff Tard telling him to rub some dirt on it and he'll be fine.

Smart money predicts coaches/staff going with Sorensen over Watts. Not sure if most fans will agree with that decision.
