DE Jason Jones drawn interest from KC

Daniel Jeremiah ‏@MoveTheSticks

I'm hearing DE Jason Jones has drawn interest from several teams, including NYG, DET, CLE and KC.

Direckshun called it.

ChiefMojo 03-11-2013 09:22 AM

Good player in the pass rush department.

I did, yes. This would be the "best case" scenario.

I'd prefer this guy over Canty, Jenkins, Dorsey, and DeVito.

Yeah, count me in for a little piece of seattles physical attitude.

Hog's Gone Fishin 03-11-2013 09:26 AM

Why was he released if he's so damn good ?????

ChiefMojo 03-11-2013 09:26 AM

So would he be a guy we would bring in along with Dorsey or a ether/or situation?

And why did they not resign him to a long term contract is my question.

I'm suspicious of Canadians but I'm sure his stoic sense of comedy will help keep the lockerroom light if Phat Andy doesn't pan out...

KC_Lee 03-11-2013 09:39 AM

He's depth and nothing more.

Maybe he wants to test the market, Maybe he wants to play for a few teams and the Seahawks isn't one of them, Maybe he wants too much money.

Yes and no. "Depth" among D-Lineman is a bit of a misnomer unless you have verifiable studs along your line.

The Chiefs don't, so rather than 'depth', Jones is a rotational player. He's a guy that's not a bench player, but rather someone that's going to be a designated 'starter' in a handful of different packages and situations.

He'd be an outstanding fit to pair with Dorsey, for instance. Dorsey's of no use at all in passing situations so you know Jones would come in on 3rd downs to get after the QB. He's a good athlete for his size, has great length. He's really a strong fit as a 1-gap DE and could potentially develop a little more.

ChiefMojo 03-11-2013 10:07 AM

Bingo. He would likely be Dorsey's back-up and/or pass rush specialist.
