Road to the first overall draft pick

We are almost in charge of our destiny.

The other teams with only one win?

Cleveland
Jacksonville
Oakland
Carolina
New Orleans

And we play Oakland twice, and Carolina and Cleveland once. It's really a shame we pulled out the win against New Orleans, but oh well. So, I think we got to root for Jacksonville beating Oakland today, to get them up to two wins.

Chief Roundup 10-21-2012 05:04 AM

New Orleans and the Panthers are not going to draft a QB although they might trade out of a top 5 pick.

BlackHelicopters 10-21-2012 05:36 AM

Jacksonville will not draft a qb. They have Blaine Gabbert.

While I agree that New Orleans and Carolina aren't QB competition (although a trade out is completely possible, given what St. Louis reaped this year), Jacksonville will very much look to replace Gabbert if they are in the top pick. If they are there, then Gabbert has NOT improved and they would be wise to bring in competition. His play vacillates between just okay to god-awful.

milkman 10-21-2012 06:17 AM

The only way the Chiefs can be assured of selecting one of the top 3 QBs is to be in the top 3 picks.

Anything lower, the Chiefs will be out manuevered by another team if Pioli is still in charge,

Very sorry. Sarcasm is so hard to convey in print.

Yall do this shit all the time and it never even comes close to what you predict... Why waste your time?

BoneKrusher 10-21-2012 07:05 AM

the Chiefs have the worst QB situation of all these teams, therefore we should end up with a worse record than the entire lot.

bevischief 10-21-2012 07:13 AM

We are doomed if Pioli is in charge of the short bus.

Not saying Gabbert is he second coming of Marino, but his team overall is just awful. His line sucks and his only real weapon is MJD as from what I have been hearing Blackmon is struggling right now.

Too early in the season to even be discussing this. We're probably gonna end up 11-5 and win the AFC dumbasses !

Way too damn early and the Chiefs are not bad enough for the first pick.

CaliforniaChief 10-21-2012 10:18 AM

Yeah, we went from "Suck for Luck" to damned near winning the West last year. Of course that's not going to happen this year, but we've got a long road of suck to hoe.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-21-2012 10:18 AM

I actually agree with Reighters. Way too early. Just like last year after week 3 we were guaranteed the number 1 pick ROFL

Mr_Tomahawk 10-21-2012 10:20 AM

Weren't we 3-3 this time last year?

Stop with the "well this time last year..." bullshit. It does not apply here.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-21-2012 10:21 AM

It's still only SIX weeks in. They could easily go 5-11 or some bullshit record.

bevischief 10-21-2012 10:21 AM

If only the short bus hits Pioli on the way.

get to week 13, if you still have 1 win you are in business..... You still have to play us twice, hell we could wind up with it but I bet it will be Jax, now if the Raiders don't beat Jax today I am gonna be super pissed

Chiefs are playing dumb, they have the talent... Romeo will get the Axe soon and you will win a few this year.

R8RFAN 10-21-2012 10:24 AM

I don't want the first pick again, that shit is embarrassing

Pasta Little Brioni 10-21-2012 10:24 AM

Yes, I've also watched shitty teams like the Faid, Browns, and Panthers that could trip over thier own dicks any Sunday.

Mother****erJones 10-21-2012 10:28 AM

KC doesnt have a QB that WONT turn the ball over. Thats their issue. Our defense sucks too

I agree but I think we are getting better each week with the limited talent we have.. Chiefs and Raiders are losing for two different reasons..

Raiders are losing because of lack of talent mainly, now I am not gonna lie and say that ZBS is the best choice for us but we are not winning much this year regardless... I am 100% behind the coach and management.

Chiefs are losing because they have a weak qb that the coaches cannot seem to design a game plan around. Chiefs have a plenty capable team to win and should have a 9-7 - 10-6 team even with Matt... I think it's all coaching.

You clearly didn't watch the Ravens game, did you? You can't completely game plan away your QB. He still touches the ball every play.

Methinks you'll get your wish - Oaktown has 6 games against all the 1-win teams coming up on its schedule.

Chiefs only play four games against 1-win teams & two of those games are vs OAK. KC is more likely to pick ahead of Oakland in spite of the suckness of both.

Rain Man 10-21-2012 11:28 AM

This is the closest thing to a championship run we've had since the 70s. Sure, it's the other direction, but there's still drama.

Mr. Laz 10-21-2012 11:32 AM

cleveland, jags and faiders need to win

i think carolina and new orleans will eventually get wins

not that cleveland will draft a QB but they would likely trade down to someone who will.

Rausch 10-21-2012 11:34 AM

I have absolutely no faith in Pissholi to draft a QB.

None.

Considering the value now of a top 5 pick he'll trade down and take a QB in the 3rd...

I'd rather Oakland plays well but loses. Kinda like the Atlanta game - outgain 'em by 200 yards but rack up some draft position.

Chris Meck 10-21-2012 12:05 PM

another 2012 first: I've never wished badly for the Raiders, Broncos, and Chargers to sweep The Chiefs.

It really has gotten that bad.

Bewbies 10-21-2012 12:09 PM

We have played 6 full games + 1 OT session and haven't had a lead for 1 second. This is a terrible, terrible team.

I'm actually interested in how long we go before we hold a lead. What's the record?

Raiders will win by the jewels they land in the later rounds, I don't expect any more draft busts by this team, I would love for the Raiders to trade away their #1 next year for more picks

bricks 10-21-2012 12:17 PM

Im sorry for being rude, but honestly I really don't give two ****s.

I'm sick of this ****ing team.

People should just shift their focus towards the organizational issues as a whole.

Drafting a QB may help a little bit but it's not going to be the franchise's saving grace.

Drafting a QB will not resolve the organizational issues. The lack of ownership, shitty team management, coaching needs to be wiped the **** out period if there is going to be an improvement/change.

Even though I do want a QB, I really don't feel confident in drafting a QB. Not with this management. They will destroy him. A guy can have all the talent in the world but if he is coached and mentor led by a bunching of ****ing idiots then that decreases his chances to succeed significantly.

JoeyChuckles 10-21-2012 02:35 PM

After today there will only be three one-win teams.

RunKC 10-21-2012 02:41 PM

Well hopefully the Jags beat the Raiders today and the Raiders beat us next week.

chiefzilla1501 10-21-2012 02:45 PM

Cleveland and new orleans are better than their record indicates. They'll bounce back and win a few. Carolina aren't drafting a qb. It's between kc, jax, and oak with jacksonville potentially holding off on a qb if gabbert progresses. And one of those teams will have two wins by tonight.

O.city 10-21-2012 02:47 PM

I don see Oakland moving from Palmer yet at least until further along in the build

Getting a top QB would mean an epically bad season, which hopefully means a new GM and coach. I would say with the Save Our Chiefs we are spending plenty of energy and focus on the management situation.

ChiefsCountry 10-21-2012 03:07 PM

Ironically if we got the first pick, it would be the 50th anniversity of the only time the Chiefs had the first overall pick in the draft. Took Buck Buchanan with it, and the Chiefs didn't earn that one - traded Cotton Davidson to the Fade for it. It was also the first year in Kansas City.

bowener 10-21-2012 03:55 PM

MJD out is really going to help JAX **** us over. On the other hand Gabbert is out... maybe Henne plays better?

Ebolapox 10-21-2012 04:06 PM

using cdcox's prediction software I imput the winners so far, and with the assumption that jacksonville holds on to win today, the chiefs have a 54 FREAKING PERCENT CHANCE of the first overall pick.

Good point.

Still... I just don't see Carolina getting to #1. Cam is just rattled. I think he makes a run at some wins in the second half of the season. I really think the competition is between us and Oakland and I just think our coaching and qb situation is such a mess right now that I can see this team quitting it's way to the worst record. Of the teams listed, i think Oakland, kc, and jacksonville are easily the ones who will get worse as the season progresses.

And you know something,

I appreciate the efforts of all of you. So, thanks to all.

I must say though, I have to chip in with my two cents. I hope you guys value what I say because in all honesty it reflects truth.

The unfortunate part of this whole thing, I'll reiterate what Lenny Dawson said simply because I agree with him, the decisions at the end of the day really come down to the chairman of the board Clark Hunt.

I understand where he is getting at in the fact that we have no control over the situation.

*Im really tired of this team and I really don't believe that Pioli and the rest of the coaching staff will be fired anytime soon. What happens in the offseason whether Pioli & Co are fired or not will dictate the type of emotions that I will express.

So Im holding back a bit. If I see Clark give Pioli and Co another shot, then that will make me irrate. It will speak high volumes of him as an owner in that he is either too patient like his dad or simply doesn't give a sh*t about winning. If thats the case, Im done with this team forever. To me, this all starts and ends with ownership.

Disappointing that both Carolina and the Jags lost today. Grrr... And worse yet, the Jags may be even more screwed for a couple weeks.

And, it's not just about teams that need QBs... any team in the top 2 picks will be looking to trade down with a team that needs a QB. We really need to be in the top 2 for a legit QB of the future. Maybe #1 overall.
