Portland covets the Royals... Will KC be able to protect their Asset?
As several people know, I live in the Portland, Oregon area... A northwest boy through and through, having grown up in Southern Idaho and moved here 5 years ago...
Well, this city has an NBA team, and minor league hockey and baseball... Not to mention we're getting a Nascar race track here soon, and two rather large Indian casino resorts that will provide the locals with some Vegas style entertainment. People are looking forward to the growth that we're experiencing... But we lack a major league team, and the residents have been clamouring for one for years. We were hoping we could get the Expos, but that was a bit of a pipe-dream, IMO. We have a local ballpark that the local minor league baseball team plays in, and there is talk about expanding that ball park to attract a major league team... Well, listening to the radio the other day, they local sports jockeys were narrowing down the best shot that Portland has of getting a baseball team... and that best shot they determined was the Royals... Their reasoning was that KC has it's hands full needing to either build a new stadium or expand Arrowhead, and that it's not likely that they will be able to also take care of the Royals needs for a new stadium. They didn't say anything about attendance though for Royals games... How good/bad is it? I just thought it was interesting and figured I'd share what hungry markets for baseball outside of you area are saying... I hate the thought of stealing a team from a market that enjoys it, strictly for money reasons... But it's a hell of a drive to get to a Mariners game, and having followed the last few seasons, I'm starting to love baseball again... So I guess I'll take what I can get... |
Royals will be gone from KC within a decade.
Who knows where...where ever the most money is. |
If the Royals move, i'd still root for em wherever they go, until a new team moved in.
|
You're not a Rockies fan eh?
|
Bye, Royals.
I wouldn't mind it one bit. |
He's a closet Seahawks fan.
|
I would be *****ing pissed.. I love the Royals being here and I love going to see them play.. and this upcoming collective bargaining agreement better *****ing fix baseball...
how much fun would it be to have a competitive team at the K... I would look forward to it as much as Football season then.. at least ever other team is relatively on equal footing! |

How in the world is this a stir the pot post? I mean, other than Endelt trying to barter the team for a quantity of weed... You're an idiot. Did you even read the post? |
As soon as the lease is up you might have a prayer..... see ya in 2017. Plus the Royals always draw at least 20,000 per game every year and draw around 1.5 million a year, one of the highest per capita in MLB. Will not happen anytime soon....
|
Probably wouldnt have to upgrade the stadium...the Royals are minor league already. MLB just needs to relegate them.

If you think that you are not stirring the concerns of KC fans with this post then you are dumber than any idiot. You are a punk. |
