I often just Google "torrent" plus the name of whatever I want to download. That returns links to lots of sites, including Pirate Bay.

The problem with TPB is all the other shit you end up downloading. It's not worth the cleanup.

What did I miss about TPB?

Unfortunately, you're going to find that with just about any torrent site. It's the nature of torrents, not necessarily the site. Torrent files are provided by individual users, not the torrents sites themselves. So you're at the mercy of whatever each individual uploads.

A good way to weed out the nonsense is to read all the comments included with the torrent you're wanting. If it's bullshit or includes viruses, it will be reported in the comments. Always check all the comments you can before downloading something. And if you're still concerned, scan it will both a virus scanner and a malware/spyware/adware scanner.
