And the 48 team starts the new season cheating! Shocking!

Spott 02-18-2012 11:16 AM

Making the 80 mile drive to Daytona in about an hour or so. It's been overcast all day but the weather is perfect. Hopefully it doesn't rain tonight during the Bud shootout.

KurtCobain 02-18-2012 11:26 AM

October 21st. Damn. It's Chiefs games and halloween timed concerts over Kansas Speedway everytime. But i'd love to make it back there again, just bad timing.

And I'm calling kasey kahne right now as your new champ, move over tony.

Eh, teams used to show up all the time with modifications, Nascar would catch it in inspection, they'd fix it, and they'd go racing. Now, it's labeled cheating by being .00003 of an inch wider and you get suspended for doing it just unloading the off the truck.

Meh, officials said it's an area where teams really push things to the limits to get as much of an advantage as possible. I really doubt much will come of it.

Old Dog 02-18-2012 12:10 PM

I was trying to decide if I should start a thread last evening, but the one last year turned into nothing but a pissing match.

Hoping Clint can be somewhat successful in the #15.

This will be fine as long as Dylan doesn't "tell us how it is".

Demonpenz 02-18-2012 01:23 PM

I don't know if you've noticed, but that happens to a lot of threads in this place.

Old Dog 02-18-2012 02:45 PM

Yeah, I reckon it does but that one started off pretty good for a long while and then just a couple of ignorant comments from one poster who claimed to know everything about racing killed it for at least a couple of us.

In58men 02-18-2012 02:47 PM

Let's go Carl Edwards.

I'll be posting info as well. Big NASCAR fan.

Eh, I don't even know exactly what happened, but it's a new season. Can we get a redneck grouphug?

In58men 02-18-2012 03:12 PM

Ky Bu, Ku Bu, Keslowski and Allendinger will be starting from the back of the pack. No matter where they qualify at.

They won't out and say it obviously, but I'm pretty sure Nascar set them all down and told them not to run 2X2 until the last 10 laps or so on the plate tracks. Placate the fans.

Hendrick says it's the same car they ran at all 4 plate races last year. Didn't make any changes other than paint job.

Kyle Busch put on a show at Daytona, pulling off a slingshot pass of Tony Stewart coming to the
start/finish line and winning the Budweiser Shootout.

http://media.thatsracin.com/smedia/2...UtP.St.158.jpg

Busch was involved numerous wrecks. He twice saved his car from near-spinouts. All that and
Kyle Busch still finished Saturday night's Budweiser Shootout in Victory Lane.

Bugeater 02-18-2012 10:44 PM

Kyle is an amazing driver, too bad he's such a raging douchebag.

Watched the race on DVR. That was the best racing at Daytona in a long time.

If Kyle could stay focused and control his temper, he could very well be one of the best.

Kyle put on a show of perfect car control, and perfect timing. I haven't seen driving like that since Earnhardt. Definitely, brought back memories of Dale!

What was up with Gordon? Come on, he knows you cannot bump a car in the left rear quarter panel and not spin the driver out -- that's as dirty as it gets.

Seems Gordon was frustrated -- Funny, after trying twice, he ran out of talent and took himself out.

He should have flown out the window of his car as it was rolling on its lid.

That'll leave a mark... http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-14836.gif

I didn't watch last night and I haven't been paying attention enough to tell you if he has a new crew. But it's not hard to look strong at Daytona the way they run in packs.

His problem is between his ears, not his equipment/crew.

Will do! LMAO

The 24 & 48 were wrecking people all night...

NASCAR should have left Gorden on his lid and dragged him around off the track.

J.C., at least dumbass Ambrose wrecked a bunch of cars and finished third.

I'm done with Junior. He put my first love AND #1 always -- the Giants down in an interview right before the Super Bowl. He should have kept his mouth shut.

Jr. had a opening right in front of him last night and wrecked. Kyle would have drove right through that opening.

F Word him. He should have NEVER messed publicly with the Giants.

FWIW, I think Kyle Bush is a Cowboys fan.

I'm a Bowyer fan. He's in the #15 this year and he said he was overheating all night long, but at the green-white-checkered he did the same thing he did all night.....slid to the back and rode there. In the 500 next week, that's smart, in a non points race or at the G-W-C, notsomuch. Maybe that car just didn't have the speed, but he didin't stick his nose out very often last night.

Cowboys? Kyle, along with his brother Kurt, grew up in Las Vegas.

Kyle's favorite team is the Broncos. True story.

Quote:

The Giants nicknamed its all-out pass rush after the world’s most competitive form of motorsports.

“We came up with NASCAR; we call it our speed package,” Giants defensive end Justin Tuck, who notched two sacks last night, told ESPN. “Why do we call it that? All of us compete about who’s the fastest and who gets to the quarterback the fastest. So NASCAR’s just something that felt right.”
Among the NASCAR drivers who attended Super Bowl XLVI were Kyle Busch, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, Clint Bowyer.

The drivers named above picked the Giants to win Super Bowl.

I think the best thing going today is the Mikey/Martin commercials.

"He polishes the headlights on his race car!"

"That's not real, buddy."

Old Dog 02-19-2012 01:27 PM

I can't find the over/under, but Jr is at 30/1 to win the Championship and Clint is at 20/1 right now.
I would guess the over under for each of them though would be 1.5

Old Dog 02-19-2012 01:32 PM

Jr is somehow the co-favorite to win next week though. He and Harvick are both 10/1. Clint is 25/1

Clints car failed the post-qualifying inspection.....Does that put him at the back of the Duel or at the back in the Duel and next Sunday?
Not that it really matters much with it being pack racing, just curious.

Without looking it up, I would think it's just for the Duels because today's runs were essentially done to set the fields in those races.
