Tebow vs. Kaepernick
Tebow does this and everybody is going crazy calling him money hungry and pathetic (and called me an idiot for arguing otherwise.)
Kaepernick does it and nobody cares. I don't get it. Did everybody suddenly realize it's a perfectly legitimate thing to do, or is it just that if you're a good QB you can do whatever you want and if you're not you can't? -------- By Marc Sessler Around the League Writer Published: Jan. 23, 2013 at 06:47 p.m. Updated: Jan. 23, 2013 at 11:26 p.m. For Colin Kaepernick, anything feels possible. He's on the doorstep of Super Bowl glory and even has his own dangerously predictable Internet meme. Eric Branch of The San Francisco Chronicle reported Wednesday that the San Francisco 49ers' starting quarterback has filed to trademark the term "Kaepernicking," per the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The craze, borne out of Kaepernick's tendency to celebrate touchdowns by flexing his right arm and kissing his bicep, has led to a flood of fan-generated Internet photos copying the pose. The fad -- which we swear sailors and wrestler-types have been doing for generations -- comes on the heels of Griffining, Bradying, Gronking, and the grandaddy of them all: Tebowing. Reports suggest the societally unnerving streak of "Horsemanning" has nothing to do with the Denver Broncos or their quarterback. A nation asleep at the wheel barrels onward. |
eh, tebow is the QB people love to hate (because of his attitude--you either love him or hate him). kaepernick isn't as polar.
|
Sounds like he has a good agent/lawyer
|
Kaepernick can throw passes.
Tebow is a fullback that sometimes tries to throw passes. |
Its because Kap is the shit and Tebow is a douchebag
|
If you're a good QB you can do whatever you want and if you're not you can't!
|
I didn't like this guy from the start. Really didn't like him when he did it the first time. Now I hate him.
Go Ravens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
I don't particularly favor either, but at least Kaepernick can get laid after he wins a big game.

I heard this morning on the radio that he's making T-shirts, and all proceeds will go to some camp/charity that helps children.

Tebow wasn't really unpopular until the national championship game where they built him into some voltron-esque combination of the Dalai Lama, MLK jr, Ghandi, Mother Teresa & Plato. After that he was in the media so much it was unbearable.
However, I digress, this is why Tim Tebow is an asshole http://www.mypokertube.com/files/pho...bb29bf22L.jpeg Look as men we all understand a certain set of written rules. If you become a rock star or the most famous football player in America, it's your job to nail every hot chick around possibly while doing rails of coke. Taking pictures with them and flaunting that you're going to do nothing with it is a dick move. Just touch those cans!! They've already got a system setup where God will forgive your sins. If that were me in that picture I'd already be stripped down to my boxers. Tebow is standing their in Ralph Lauren khakis and a titanium chastity belt I'd like to send out a tip of the cap to REAL MEN who stuck to the code and have fathered small nation states: Shawn Kemp, Antonio Cromartie, Travis Henry. Well done, sirs |

Additionally, Kaep is making way less money than Tebow. I have no problem with him trying to increase his wages.

Wait a minute. How can Kaepernick be a good QB? He was drafted in the 2nd round. I thought only a top 2 or 3 pick in the draft could net you a good QB.

Additionally, Kaep has arguably the best QB coach on planet Earth in Harbaugh right now. I'm sure that has been somewhat beneficial. |

Odds of a 2nd round QB becoming a star Odds of a 1st round QB becoming a star Which one is higher? |
One guy has substance to his game and the other flukes stuff up in spite of completing 4 passes a game, as a result drives his critics insane, and gets the hype of a top 5 qb that his on field play has neeeeever warranted at the NFL level.
I like Tebow and everything he represents but that's really all it is as opposed to a double standard. |

Perfect response. No one ever claimed guys drafted after the 1r never pan out it is just a matter of playing odds at the most important position. |
just out of curiosity, why did Kaepernick drop to the 2nd?
too skinny? Didnt play for a big school? Viewed as a runner first? admittedly, i didnt know much about him until this year. |

He better talk to Metta World Peace AKA Ron Artest then, he's been doing it for years in the NBA

Cowherd asked the ? to a NFL guy (I was only half listening) and I think I heard the guy say they didn't like his delivery.
I watched him play in college against MU twice and he was kind of blah but that was earlier in his career. Then I saw him against Boise st on a fri night and they upset them. The thing about all 3 games is that I didn't remember him completing a high % of passes. So my impression was just that he was a great athlete but not a nfl qb. Meh, guys get missed on by the pros let alone armchair hacks on the Internet. Really the only thing that I laugh at are people that think they know for a fact a player is going to be great or not. None of us know squat but it's fun to discuss and exchange opinions and learn. |

Trademarks are not about financial gain. They're about protecting your image...your brand. Tebow and Co. did it because the entire nation was going ape shit over his antics. He actually had a much better reason to trademark his image than Kaep does, and Tebow never talked about making t-shirts or doing anything to try and profit...it was simply to protect the image. Kaep doesn't really have anybody "Kaepernicking" but himself, and he's talking about trademarking, making shirts to sell, etc. Yet Tebow gets slammed and Kaep is just cool..?? As I said in the Tebow thread about all of this, I'm no Tebow fan, but this particular topic shows just how nuts this place can be sometimes. |
I don't have a problem with Tebow doing it either to make money. I feel that most people would agree that Kaep probably has A) less sponsors/endorsers currently and is making considerably less money than Tebow.
Sponsors/Endorsements are awesome and I applaud any athlete that makes money off them. They should. |

I never ever said that the NBA is more popular, i said the NBA is popular, they do have good ratings and the players are even more famous/popular then the NFL players. |

http://turnernbahangtime.files.wordp...-china-450.jpg http://images.freshnessmag.com/wp-co...2-Wuhan-00.jpg Worldwide, NBA players are more famous than NFL players and it's not close at all. Even in America, individually NBA players are more popular than NFL players. Everybody would recognize LeBron or Kobe walking down the street. There's a lot of people who wouldn't recognize NFL players. It mainly has to do with the fact that NFL players wear helmets and you rarely see their faces when they play. |

The NFL draft dwarfs the NBA playoffs in ratings.
