Gambling is just a form of entertainment to me. I don't plan on winning big. I know I may not win at all. But I love the thrill of the hunt, and it's how I choose to spend my entertainment budget. As Nzoner said, the comps help offset some of the costs. The closest casino to me is over 2 hours away. If I go, I'm usually spending the night. I never pay for rooms, or food. I take my own booze. We have a lot of fun.

I won $13k on a progressive jackpot.

I went to the Hard Rock in Tampa for the first time with my dad several months ago. I only threw $80 in the slot machines and had basically zero luck. I think I was ahead of where I started for maybe a handful of pulls while I played.

My dad on the other hand gets hot for some reason. I watched him get up over $100 off of $20 on three different slot machines. Problem is, he doesn't know when to quit and ended up losing the $200 he walked in with that day. That ****er likes to gamble; I could tell LMAO

I wo uld probably enjoy it if I had the money to lose etc.
I really wanted to play blackjack that night we were at the casnio for my wifes' christmas party. That is, until I saw the lowest amount was like $20. screw that.
the $10 was packed....and only 1 x $10 table.

If i had like 300 to burn, it would be a good night of entertainment I suppose.

I won $1000 on a LV sports bet that the Chiefs would win less than 7 games the year that Brodie Croyle was thier starting quarterback. It was like stealing money.

How often do you have to go to actually get comped?

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-02-2013 04:34 PM

I won $300 at Harrah's playing No Limit for about an hour once. Friend busted out so I left.

Won $180 on quarter slots at the Venetian when we were walking through. Sat down, put a quarter in, and bam.

I've never lost playing Roulette, but I've only played once, and I stick to one rule:

ALWAYS BET ON BLACK.

There were a lot of people coming through there that had no idea what they were doing. We played a couple 100 dollar buy-in tournaments and lost. The first tournament, I lost the very first hand. I had pocket Qs and a lady went all in with A-J and I called her and lost.

playing all of the good hands wouldn't mean jack in 1/3 limit since everyone would play every hand

if you take AA against 8 other people your odds of winning the hand probably aren't much higher than 20% (tops) preflop...

I'll test this.

'Hamas' Jenkins 04-02-2013 04:36 PM

I had to learn the hard way that you can't get people off of shit hands by being aggressive in low-limit poker. You have to play strong drawing hands because it's too hard to isolate.

Suited connectors are the best starting hands in limit.

Hootie 04-02-2013 04:37 PM

yeah I did a simulation with AA against 8 random other shit hands and it drew 31% to win (clearly the favorite, but still only 3/10)

Hootie 04-02-2013 04:40 PM

I did another one where someone had AK suited, another guy had 55, and someone else had 87 of hearts against 6 other random hands preflop and 87 hearts was favored at 19%...

what I'm trying to say is

in 1/3 limit where you're probably facing 6 people, minimum, every flop...

winning 100 big bets, and 2 of you nonetheless at the same table, has to be nearly impossible...like Chiefs taking Geno #1 impossible

10/20 Limit is a good, profitable casino poker...but I wouldn't go any lower...rake is too high in 5/10 and it's not much tighter than 3/6 (a joke because of what I just described) to justify playing it...the rake takes too much money off the table

if you're playing limit, you have to play 10/20 or 20/40 if you consider the rake if you want to be a profitable player if you play solid limit poker

I used to play limit in Chicago 60 hours a week and I learned my lesson at 5/10...I used to get steaming mad at beats when I played hands to perfection...10/20 calmed me down...finally I switched back to 200 NL and life was better

The first night I went to the Argosy I was approached by a hostess and offered a comped room for 2 nights. I was there about 3 hours and had gambled under $500.
