New being a relative word here. Jjs has been in a construction zone for years. That road has been down to one lane the whole time. It was a bad situation for them.

That original smoke from the explosion looked like a petroleum fire, not natural gas. Who knows...bad deal.

Nah I live 3 blocks up the street they have everything blocked off south of my building. I still was able to smell gas about 15 mins ago.

The only positive so far is the day of the week. It's a quite popular place. The owner is well known

Looking at that picture from KCTV, that's a gas line that 's still live that's burning. That's why they still smell gas.

Eyewitness on 41 news said a man covered in blood was walking towards her car and she took him to KU Med,guy told her he was one of the last one's heading out when the roof just collapsed and he was able to roll out on the sidewalk.

When you watch the original fire it looks like the damn gas explosion caused a nearby petroleum vehicle to go up too. The deep black smoke just screams more than natty gas exploded at the beginning.

Source to KMBC said firefighters and gas workers were in the restaurant in the hour before the explosion and advised patrons to leave. No word on staff.
