Cash bar or foot the bill? Wedding poll

So we're attending a wedding in STL in a few weeks, and instead of footing the bill themselves, it's a cash bar.

What are your thoughts on this?

I kinda think if youre having a big fancy all weekend kinda wedding, pay for the bar tab, but I get it I guess, miney wise.

So, what say you?

Update: read announcement, open bar, all is well

I think you should get drunk and tell them what cheap mother****ers they are.

Id never go to a cash bar wedding

Should call it a white trash cash bar

DaFace 08-10-2015 05:06 PM

I'll never fault someone for cutting costs on a wedding. They're stupidly expensive.

You have to know the crowd you're dealing with as the hosts of a nuptial get together, so it could be the fact the wedding party doesn't think they can justify getting hosted booze due to the amount of non-drinkers.

Or they are just financially strapped and just don't want to foot the bill for a bunch of drunks... Or just don't want to deal with drunks period.

Well, it's a Catholic wedding, catholic family and both sets of parents (bride and groom) are Drs.

So I think the no drunks thing is out.

Could be venue related. Too high of an upfront cost for open bar..

That's a given.

First weekend for the wife and I away from our 2 year old and 3 month old since the 3 mo the was born.

Being sober isn't an option

Cash bar is a crock of shit. Foot the bill or just get hitched in Vegas and spare a bunch of dudes from having to attend.

Salute to you for not bringing your kids with you considering their ages.

Bringing kids younger than middle school age to weddings is just stupid.

It's a black tie kind of wedding too. Seems odd that they're going cash bar.

Maybe I need to reread the invitation

If it was just the 2 year old, maybe. Doubtful, but maybe.

As a father of three girls I can understand it...That being said though my old daughter just got married last fall and I footed the bill for everything..:deevee:

I was very adamant about buying all of the booze for our wedding (10/31/15).

Luckily for me her family loves Old Fashioneds and Kessler's. (Cheap whiskey)

Beer and wine free?
