OKC - 10 Years
Pause and remember.

Hard to believe it has been a decade since that happened. A lot of lives were forever changed in a sad way. I was driving a Van in Up-State NY with Kansas plates at the time. I got pulled over by the HP, they wanted to know what I was doing out there. |
I was at TINKER AFB (southeast side of OKC) that day. I was outside and heard what I was thought was thunder and was wondering where it came from because it was a sunny day, till I saw the smoke rising up from downtown. I went in and turned on the news and saw the pictures from downtown, talk about a nightmare. My wife was even closer to the bombing and her building was shaking from the blast. It's a day I will never forget. What made it even worse was I last a very close friend of mine just three days before the bombing. I think about that week almost every day.
Please pray for all the people that were affected that day. The healing is still taking place and the nightmares are still there for many. |
I was in Saudi and it took me almost a week to track down my mom. (We lived near Altus, OK at the time) She was supposed to go to the Social Security office, and at the last minute decided to go fishing instead. I still get chills when thinking about it.

I was at home when the first breaking news occured. I was pretty much glued to the TV for the rest of the day about this incident. Interesting enough, the town I live in has a linkage to this incident.

I was at work, on break, about 5 miles from the Murrah building, when we heard a loud "boom". My boss came out about 10 minutes later and said someone had blown up the Federal building. A friend of our family, Jill Randolph, was killed in the explosion. Her parents have never really recovered.
Thinking and praying for those families, Jim |
