Stupid HP Laser Jet 400 Black Toner Probs
I have had the thing for 2 yrs. It is nice for a small business that prints out monthly news letters, forms, misc printing, fax, and copies. It has the color cartridges and black.
The cartridge # is 305/CE410. The existing black works fine...but low on toner. I have ordered 10 new ones and they ALL don't work. The error message is "remove shipping lock from the black cartridge"...all of them:( These are original HP products bought through quill. I have returned them all. When I put the old, low toner cartridge back in, it works perfectly I have looked on line for ideas, such has "shake the cartridge", shut down and reboot, stand on your head and count to 10, what phase of the moon et. al. to no result. I have tried talking to TONER places and they say talk to HP. So I just ordered STRAIGHT from HP on their website a new cartridge and same thing. HP phone support is a joke. I like the printer and the copies are nice but don't want to spend another ??? $600-700 on a new one when everything else works fine. Ideas? I need this to work soon. I have been dicking with this for too long. Thankfully, I have another smaller HP Office Jet 6600. But it not a long term solution as to volume. I |
I bought a HP Desk Jet 2132 for like $45 and it works great at home use. Color & black and white cartridges came with it. It's actually cheaper by one of these and replace it than buying cartridges.

And I'm happy with it.

Probably needs a firmware update. Go to support.hp.com

I need a larger printer for the newsletters. I have a second 6600 printer that is a nice "home" type in the office as well.
