DJ vs. DT

There was one play where Derrick Johnson fed off two blocks, went between the blockers and laid a hit on Jordan. It was a beautiful text-book tackle by a rookie. He's got a great career ahead of him.

I'm just curious- what were DT's numbers his rookie season? Is DJ playing better ball his rookie season than Derrick Thomas did?

IM sure the sack numbers are not there for DJ like they were for DT. I think DT had about 9-10 sacks his rookie year?? But DJ is cleary not that type of pure pass rusher that DT was either so they should not be judged that way against each other.

Comparing any rookie to Derrick Thomas chaps my hide too...

I know you are only comparing their rookie seasons, but it just feels dirty.

DJ's got 55 tackles now.

DT was the best.

I see nothing wrong with it, DT was something special, and this is just hope that DJ will be something special too.

The thing about DJ is he doesn't have the sacks that we all love to see but he's been great at snuffing out the short dump off passes.

This comparison just isn't a valid one.

DT was a pass rusher, pure and simple.
He was one dimensional, albeit one of the best ever at that one dimension.

DJ is a more complete LB.

If he grows and develops into the LB that he has the potential to become, he could very well be the best LB the Chiefs have had since the days of Lanier/Bobby Bell.

With Kawika really growing this season, and getting better seemingly every game, I am excited about the future of our LB group.

BTW, can someone please find Kendrell Bell.

I agree! I also believe from what I've seen that DJ will be a very special player for KC for years to come..He already looks very comfortable out there in his rookie season. :)
