And big whiff on the "Happy Ending" humor that could have resulted from a different thread title.

Brilliant idea on the note. You'd make a great neighbor. Unless of course you don't kill the dandelions in your yard.

Am I the only one who thinks dandelions are nice? They look like yellow flowers I don't see the big deal?

Well played.

Hope the kid learned a lesson about being more responsible with his pets. The cat definitely should not have been outside with that storm front coming in.

If we didn't kill them and instead groomed them, the world would be filled with beautiful yellow flowers.

Then a week later we'd be buried in white fuzz like they were tribbles.

Well, I'm not sure what to think. When the kid called, he said he was on his mom's cellphone, and the battery was about to run out. It was a 913 number. I wrote the number down from the caller ID. I have no idea what his home situation is like, there's a lot of rental housing in our neighborhood. More families with kids have moved in, because we're now in Independence School District.

I didn't want to press the kid for info. The kitty "Rex" may come visit me because he doesn't get fed regularly at home. I'll still give him a meal if he wants it. I'm just glad to know he's got a home to go to. I didn't know that for sure Wednesday night.

Plus tomcats tend to roam, no matter what kind of house they come from.
I felt bad for the kid not knowing where his kitty was the last three days. I know I'd be very upset if one of my kitties went missing for three days. But like I said, now I know what's going on, so I can manage the situation better.

Collar with note. Nice thinking. Going to have to remember that trick.

We of the human species sometimes need to learn the ropes about how to handle our animal brethren.

Most of them are best handled with tongs instead of a fork.

Very cool story, though.

This would be a better story had you given the cat an antifreeze bath and sent him home with a note for the little boy to buy a real pet, like a pit bull.
