Yep.

I would imagine they're already talking to Albert's agent.

He said the two sides were talking when he called in to 610, but that they were just starting talks.

Well, this thread was started 1/22, so they've been talking for almost a week and a half.

It shouldn't be difficult to complete, at all. His agent should use Duane Brown's contract as the starting point with the knowledge that he'll receive a bit less.

Done deal.

Thanks. I thought there was some restrictions about negotiating during the season but wasn't sure when that ended.

I agree.

I just hope they're not talking about moving him to guard or something equally ****ing stupid.

I can't even imagine that would even come up. If so, Albert walks. And I highly doubt that Andy Reid and John Dorsey will allow that to happen.

Don't know if he wanted him specifically to play tackle.

But they were definitely trying to trade up to get him.

O.city 01-31-2013 01:28 PM

Well I doubt they would trade up for a guard

BossChief 01-31-2013 01:35 PM

The difficulty with contracts for left tackles right now is there are three upper echelon ones that are scheduled to hit FA this year in Clady, Albert and Long.

None of their agents are gonna want to be the one that agrees to the first deal and Cladys agent already turned down a 5yr 50 million dollar deal a couple months back.

Hopefully, the Chiefs come to an acceptable agreement with Albert, but I don't think this is gonna be as easy as some might think.

BossChief 01-31-2013 01:38 PM

Lets say Albert agrees to a 6yr 58 million dollar contract (that's the amount where I think he will sign) and a couple weeks later, Clady signs for 5yrs 60 million.

Alberts agent isn't gonna have an easy time signing future clients because he got Albert "underpaid".

htismaqe 01-31-2013 01:42 PM

That's an interesting angle. :hmmm:

This is virtually impossible.

Duane Brown is the best left tackle in the NFL. All-Pro, Pro Bowler, 2nd team All-Pro in 2011. Best, bar none.

In August 2012, Brown signed a 6 year, $53.4 million dollar deal. There's no ****ing way, especially with a flat cap, that Clady or Albert can expect to receive a bigger contract offer.

None, zip, zero. Won't happen.

Carr got more money then Revis. Clady will get more money then Brown.

Big difference.

Brown signed his contract less than 6 months ago.

Revis signed his contract over 2 years ago.
