Louis CK is still my favorite.
Hannibal Buress is one of my favorites. |
I've tried for 2-3 years to find the clip to no avail, but he does a truly hilarious "drunk uncle".
|
Of all time is what gets me. You could say "Of current comedians" and I'd say probably...but all time? It's ridiculous.
Bill Cosby Richard Pryor Eddie Murphy George Carlin Sam Kennison Robin Williams Dude could not hold these guys' jocks... |
my 3 fav's are
Pryor Griffin Lopez (its a culture thing with him, because the shit he makes fun of in my culture is ****ing hilarious and true) I enjoy others, but them 3 are my favorites. |

Hell, Bill Burr would ****ing bust him out... |
His standup is incredibly hacky. If you take every def comedy jam cliche from 20 years ago you have Kevin Hart. But hey he gets to follow Martin Lawrence movie career of being the wacky black sidekick to the straight laced white guy.

I've never found Kevin Hart to be that funny. IMO, he's not even the best comedian right now.
|
Right now he's just the flavor of the week. When a few more of his movies bomb he'll be a afterthought.
|
I find him as a person funny, but not his standups or his movies. In interviews, I can see why he's so well liked and why he's the hottest thing in comedy right now, but personally, I can't sit through one of his whole standups
|
Kevin does personality driven comedy. He doesn't need to rely on material, he puts on a show with his charm and exaggerated mannerisms. I've heard other comics say he is the new Mencia. that he has a team of writers that go to comedy clubs in his entourage to lift material and to heckle the competition.

Watching Jim Jeffries on EPIX.
Another comedian I really like. |
off the top of my head, Katt Williams, Ron White, C.K, Burr, Gaffigan, Oswalt, Burress, and Burr are way ahead of him

Curious what standard people judge comedians on.
Make you laugh Make you think Stick with you Repeatably funny Shocking Physical/Impressions Catchphrases Because the only bits of standup I can recall actually LAUGHING at in the past 5 or so years weren't the best bits, but just struck me funny Kevin James miming picking out a greeting card [laughter @4:30] <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/czDWzPEuclk" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Robin Williams eating pussy <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ygqR3fDBhe4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Most standup I enjoy, but stoically. As in like an uptight German sitting stock still and whispering 'dat iss funnay' rather than actully laughing. Laughter usually comes from alt improv group stuff like CBB, Harmontown, Whose Line, and I4H or crowd work like Jimmy Pardo. I think because it surprises. Stand-up, no matter how well crafted, rarely surprises me anymore. I can appreciate the craftsmanship, but without the element of surprise I'm not spurred to gales of laughter. |
