Are the Royals constructed poorly ? Mike Sweeney with the excessive contract . Angel Berroa who is inconsistent and hasn't proved anything.

I believe Allard Baird and David Glass are not doing the job. This team would be atleast .500 if they had a few more good players.

Allard squandered the cash last season. I am not too impressed with him or his ability to judge talent , although I like Bautista , but thats just one good trade and whole lot of mistakes in free agency.

It beats hearing how shitty Carl and Lamar are.

I'm sure Skip will be along shortly to tell us how they're all my fault. We're in week 3 and I haven't started a Royals thread since opening day. :)

And yes, we are constructed poorly. We paid market value for Sweeney at the time... ARod got 25 million, Jeter got 20, top pitchers getting 15-20 million. Problem is the market has come down a little (even Pujols isn't making that much more than Sweeney per year), plus Sweeney hasn't lived up to it, that would make it a little more bearable, but I think it'll make it a lot easier to work on re-signing some of the guys we have now when Sweeney's 11 million is off the books.
