Our last Mayor ran on that & gun control & he hasn't been heard from him since

AustinChief 09-11-2013 06:01 PM

Unfortunately those numbers seem to be completely ignored by the GOP powers that be.

I really don't get how they think they can win elections playing Democrat light. The people voting that way already have their party.

Bewbies 09-11-2013 07:12 PM

Drudge was right about the battle becoming authoritarian vs libertarian.

Powers that be lose their power if they accept this.

I agree that the shift is happening, but are there really more libertarians than evangelicals right now? I really doubt it.

Eleazar 09-11-2013 07:14 PM

Fiscally conservative and socially moderate != libertarianism

AustinChief 09-11-2013 07:23 PM

This is why I think someone like Ted Cruz can be so appealing. He is libertarian in many ways but in others he still appeals to the social conservatives. He may be a good "bridge" candidate.

Rand Paul is a better candidate.

Not if you want the GOP base to actually show up he isn't. He might be a better candidate in another 11 years but not in 2016. Cruz can raise a HELL of a lot more money and get the establishment behind him.

I'm fine with damn near anyone but that fatass Christie.

100% of Cosmo's brain has poor reading comprehension skills.

If you disagree with the author's view on what libertarianism means (notice the small l) then take it up with the author not the 78% who have views that the author feels fall more closely in line with today's mainstream libertarianism than they do traditional GOP stances.

No one was asked "are you are a Libertarian?"
