Late Afternoon Bullshit: Analyzing the first 5 games

TEN
@DEN
@MIA
NE
@SF

Shit, that is gonna be brutal. Here's what we're facing:

-3 teams in the Championship game for their conference.
-Only 1 team had a losing season at 7-9. And they got better.
-Combined overall record of 52-28.

Again, brutal.

We will definitely know early this year if we can compete for the playoffs or if we're not going to make the cut.
I think the most likely scenario for us is 2-3. I think it would be fair to say that TEN is a very winnable game. I think it's also fair to say that @DEN and @SF are very losable games.
IMO the key is Miami. I think the Patriots will have a much harder time since it's primetime at Arrowhead. I think it's winnable for us. They are a good team though, but we do play great football on that stage at home, as history has shown for the most part.
We win against Miami, get a win at home vs New England and end up 3-2 I'll be ecstatic. I'm not counting on that happening, as 2-3 seems more likely right now, but I do like it that we're coming out with our backs against the wall early. Set the tone and win and that will put some confidence into the season.

Thoughts? Should be interesting to see how people feel about the start to the season.

Am I seeing double?

Mr_Tomahawk 05-18-2014 02:26 PM

This one is better.

This seems to be a good idea to double the number of threads and posts on CP, you know, to keep it from dying and shit.

Agreed

1-4.

And since it's the Tiatans season opener at home, 0-5 is very possible.

Things can change quick in the NFL. Just because teams were good one year don't mean they will be good the next. On paper this looks brutal but who knows? I think NE is do to get knocked off their pedestal.

Andy Reid did something I never thought I'd see: he got a Chiefs team to play well on the road.

I absolutely think we can beat Miami at their place. After that, take your pick of wins against Tennessee or New England. Most likely Tennessee.

2-3

Hog's Gone Fishin 05-18-2014 05:04 PM

Dee Ford will sack Peyton Manning 6 times ,cause 3 fumbles and crack his friggin neck.

The rest of the season will be a cake walk !

CoMoChief 05-18-2014 05:23 PM

2-3

I expect this team to at least beat TEN and MIA

Maybe with a little luck we could be 3-2 beating NE at home MNF at AH. Place should be rockin'.

But you never know. Some teams that are good one year can absolutely suck the next.

Cant wait for the Miami game when our pass rushers exact vengeance upon Branden Albert for his desertion.

Hell, we struggled with Tennessee last year and they were playing with a (shocking) backup QB.

Miami in the heat? Should be interesting.

Knowing this organization, they'll go 2-3 and beat Denver and SF in the process.

Why would they feel like that? They all want to be paid what they feel they are worth.

stonedstooge 05-18-2014 05:52 PM

Going to find out what kind of team we have, real quick
