So why didn't we land Manning, again?

Clark Hunt signaled what he was capable of in 2009, when he hooked the biggest fish in several year's worth of GM markets in Pioli.

Of course, that didn't work out, but it was evidence that Clark gets his man when he wants to get his man, he gets his man.

So why didn't we land Manning, who was clearly the guy Hunt wanted Pioli to acquire last offseason?

I've heard several people suggest that Pioli was the dude who held that up.

What do we have to go on, there? What's the real story of why Peyton never considered KC, when it's clear KC has an owner who always bags his man?

cdcox 01-13-2013 10:28 PM

Don't care. It's time to create our own glory rather than live off someone else's washed up scraps.

Bugeater 01-13-2013 10:28 PM

Eh, we'll never know for sure. Frankly I think Peeoli had his tongue so far up Cassel's ass that we never strongly pursued him.

Oh, and the ****ing Peeoli filter is stupid.

Hootie 01-13-2013 10:29 PM

I don't think an owner can necessarily lure a player as easily as they can persuade a coach or front office guy.

Hammock Parties 01-13-2013 10:29 PM

Because ***** is a dick. End of story.

Yeah, this.

Time to move on. Clark is by far making amends & making up for what went wrong. It's time to just move on. Glad we didn't get PM didn't want in the first place.

Lets get GENO :)

Bowser 01-13-2013 10:32 PM

Supposedly after the Broncos were done thrashing us after the last game of the season, Clark asked Peyton point blank why he didn't come to KC, and Peyton told him the reason was Pioli.

milkman 01-13-2013 10:33 PM

I agree with cd cox, who give's a rat's ass?

Greatest choker ever.

Deberg_1990 01-13-2013 10:39 PM

Why didn't Manning land in SanFran or Tennessee?

Elway. Winners like hanging out and giving each other knob jobs.

Sorter 01-13-2013 10:40 PM

No longer want Manning.

This. If we land manning we would be looking at another year of Pioli and the funky bunch. Revolution would have been delayed and Brian DaBoll would be up for a head coaching job.

Bowser 01-13-2013 10:43 PM

And if you believe the rumors, Manning has been offered part ownership of the Broncos after he retires.

Because he left Pioli in charge of getting the Man and when he asked his agent what kind of $ said QB was going to want Mr. Pioli said no Thanks.

Thats where it started and ended. If we would have put up bucks maybe Peyton would have come in for a tour, maybe not. But he wasn't gonna play for Pioli peanuts.

Just my opinion btw.

But ultimately this.

It is truly going to be awesome if Geno gets a playoff win as a Chief before Peyton does as a Bronco.

LMAO

Lex Luthor 01-13-2013 10:51 PM

This thread is pointless. Who ****ing cares now?

Here's what I'd really like to know: Why did Gale Sayers sign with the Bears when the Chiefs also took him in the AFL draft that year????? Could you check into that, Direckshun?

Smed1065 01-13-2013 10:51 PM

Control....SP did not care about the money, it was not his.

Having a QB that could play and would be popular was not his idea of having control.

FYP.

I do not care who the QB is at that time as long as it is before PM retires.

Gravedigger 01-13-2013 10:55 PM

Meh, I'm more than willing to let Manning fail with the Broncos and try to build something here. Yes, it was a depressing trash year, but changes happened that are undeniably exciting.
