Favorite songs of the 90s

What songs were your favorite back in the 90s? Also what songs were the most overplayed in the 90s in Kansas City?

Peaches - The Presidents of the United States of America

A lot of Garth Brooks and then one or two songs from a bunch of artists/bands.

The 90s are such a polarizing decade of music for me. Lots of really, really good shit (Pavement, Oasis, Modest Mouse, Neutral Milk Hotel, Primal Scream, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Sublime, Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Biggie/Tupac/Nas etc) but also some of the most overrated bands (Nirvana, Pearl Jam [barf], Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, sellout REM) and overall terrible pop music.

My favorite song is probably Gold Soundz by Pavement, though.

All things Verve and Radiohead. And some Korn.

I ignored 90s music at the time, in the last 5-10 years have discovered some that I think is fantastic. STP and Soundgarden; Cat Power and some of the other female acts of that time I really like.

I get nostalgic for the 90s now, was a much less tense era.

Add Verve and Radiohead to my list of great 90s shit.

Also My Bloody Valentine.

Much less tense in the alternative/grunge/rock genres. Hip-Hop/rap on the other hand...

You guys have any radio stations that do a flashback hour to the 90s like the 90s at noon or anything like that?

96.5 The Buzz does a 90's at Noon type thing. Usually a nice, eclectic mix of 90's stuff. I often hear TOOL on there, even - MUCH to my delight, of course.

"Never Be Your Woman" by White Town is an all timer.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/HIX2RAHPTsI" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Cake's "The Distance" was also an ace tune.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/cno20onK9dY" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"Dr. Worm" by They Might Be Giants.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/TkVHdUkMJdk" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"Flim" by Aphex Twin was probably the best electronic song of all time, if you like complex rhythms.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/_-skOEVVpcI" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

"Sugar" by System of a Down was just a shitkicker of a tune.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/bqNgSEU5YOs" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Blur's "Coffee And TV" was the groove of the decade.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/fCVuK9uwKQE" frameborder="0" gesture="media" allow="encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

So many great songs. I've got more if anybody likes these recommendations. The 90s were great for off-kilter musical stylings.

raybec 4 12-12-2017 12:47 PM

Jesus, someone actually put Snow-Informer as one of the greats. Not naming names

raybec 4 12-12-2017 12:51 PM

Clapton's "Unplugged" Album was fantastic
Not really in line with alot of my tastes but 10,000 Maniacs always made good tunes
Rage
Cypress Hill
