Chiefs sign third free agent of the John Dorsey era

Kansas City Chiefs GM John Dorsey spent the week in Mobile, Alabama for the 2013 Senior Bowl. He ended the week by signing his third free agent in his short time in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Chiefs have a new player -- Tyler Shoemaker. He's a receiver who entered the league as an undrafted free agent this season.
The run down on Shoemaker, via the Chiefs:
Shoemaker originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with theTampa Bay Buccaneers in 2012 before being released by Tampa Bay before training camp. Shoemaker was a four-year letterman at Boise State (2008-11) after redshirting his freshman season (2007). He played in 50 games (23 starts), recording 122 receptions for 2,031 yards (16.6 avg.) with 25 touchdowns. As a senior, he led the Broncos with 994 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, and tied for a team-high with 62 receptions. The Meridian, Idaho, native was a three-time letterman in football and was named first-team all-state as a senior at Mountain View High School.
The first free agent signing was an offensive tackle named Steven Baker,the second one was defensive lineman Daniel Muir.
In other free agent news, quarterback Rudy Carpenter is said to have a workout with the Chiefs this week.

That's not obvious. His name suggest making shoes Tyler Shoemaker NOT Tyler Identifyopposingteams'footwear. That wouldn't even fit on the back of the jersey.

You see, names used to be based on profession.

For example, "Smith" meant that you were a metal smith.

"Shoemaker" meant that you were a shoe maker.

"Hancock" meant that you were Blackbob.
