How many years does Law School take?

Kids need to look at school like business: How much is the investment vs. payoff.

Yes to engineering.

No to MBA, unless you don't already have a business-related degree.

This is true for a lot of people.

I make a lot more from owning a business that doesn't require a degree compared to using the degree I earned.

Throw in the capitalized interest at end of school if taking out loans and that number jumps even bigger. Likely 6.8% and higher for the int rates on those loans. I agree it is all about the ROI. Crunch the numbers and make projections ahead of time.

mba from a top school is pretty damn valuable. alumni factor is huge. 90% of fortune 500 ceos have mba's from top schools. how much money do those guys make a year? alot

All of that and my paycheck will probably be 1,000 dollars. Don't know what I'm gonna do.

$350 for car? Is that a payment or the whole car?

I am not knocking their accomplishments, but it doesn't hurt that most of them were born with a silver spoon shoved up their ass.

But if you have aspirations to work at a top tier law firm on Wall Street or in DC or some other major city, it helps a lot (i.e. it's almost essential) to go to a big name law school.

That's actually a really good point. I think those positions can be attained, but would the time involved to get them be worth the loss of income by getting them straight out of school. This is over a quarter million dollar education. Some of those guys make 10 times that in bonus alone.

Yeah like we need another one of those types. Hopefully his kid will be one that goes against that stigmatism.
