Gary Oldman Joining MGM's 'Robocop' Remake

Gary Oldman has inked a deal to star opposite Joel Kinnaman in MGM’s remake of Robocop.

Jose Padilha is directing the film, which is being produced by Strike Entertainment’s Marc Abraham and Eric Newman.

Kinnaman (The Killing) plays the title character, a cop named Alex Murphy who is brought back from the brink of death and turned into a cyborg police officer.

Oldman will play Norton, the scientist who creates Robocop and finds himself torn between the ideals of the machine trying to rediscover its humanity and the callous needs of a corporation.

The production is eyeing a September shoot in Toronto and has a tentative release date of summer 2013.

Happened to catch the original last week while flipping channels. God, I love that movie. And the toxic waste scene still ranks among my favorite screen deaths. :D

The first Rated R movie that my dad let me watch. I LOVED that movie as a kid!~
I did re-watch it a couple months ago and I have to say as an adult that it had some really stupid parts. I'm not disappointed in a remake, as long as they make it dark and realistic. I'd like to see Christopher Nolan do it.

I'd buy that for a dollar.

i dunno but ill watch pretty much anything with oldman in it

Watch Tropa de Elite 1 & 2, it's pretty hardcore shit by the director of this reboot.

I think the cast is what made the original awesome, so that is going to be pretty hard to top.

worthless ****s can't think of anything original so they just remake everything.

They need to bring Kurtwood Smith back in some capacity.
