Employee Time Clock App/Software?

My wife has gotten hung up on the idea of employees "clocking" in and out on a desktop when they come to work. Anyone have any cheap (free is even better) solutions for this?

We're running a max of five employees at this time. There's no need to keep up with jobs, handle expense accounts, or anything of that nature. Just needs to let each employee clock in/out, let me alter those hours (in case they forget to clock in), and shoot out a total at the end of the week.

I found an app that we could run on our ipad that would do it, so I might just do that.

I'd use ADP for payroll and their ezLaborManager software that integrates in to payroll. It's definitely worth the money IMO

I'm not sure if it's free or not but we switched to an online system called paylocity at my job. I don't recommend it. It's a pain in the ass. Maybe you'll find a better system but from an employee POV, it's terrible.

We use PayChex to do our payroll, so they might have something as well... I'll ask them.

Just use an old school time card puncher at work here.

If their desktops are password protected, their login logs would give you all you need to know.

No. It's a retail store. She wants a little widget/app to run on the store's desktop. They come in, punch in their pin and hit "clock in." Then when they leave, get on the desktop, punch in their pin, and hit "clock out." Insanely simple and abuseable. I keep telling her she might as well just let them submit their hours to her on a shareable google spreadsheet, but she's not buying that.

We use and I manage the ADP payroll system (handpunches+software) and it's terrible. Don't bother. Definitely not worth the money if it's a business with less than 10 employees, as a punch costs $4000, not including the software and support contracts. We have 600+ employees and about 20 punches and they are the most poorly constructed garbage I've ever had the displeasure of working with (aside from printers). The software is awful too.

VB Script would handle that. If you can code, maybe even some html would do the trick.
