Do you support "the banner"?

Clearly there is a lot of energy around the banner, but I generally understand the criticisms that have been posted from others around teh internets. Anyway, the pollster in me is curious to know how many actual detractors we have (and I don't necessarily mean to imply that's a bad thing).

Anyway, intentionally anonymous poll to follow.

Bewbies 10-06-2012 08:03 PM

Yes

Spott 10-06-2012 08:04 PM

David Banner?

the Talking Can 10-06-2012 08:05 PM

if you don't support it, you're an asshole

jd1020 10-06-2012 08:05 PM

I don't disagree with it. But I personally think it's a waste of money. It won't change anything. An empty Arrowhead in the 2nd half of games is far more impactful.

BigRedChief 10-06-2012 08:05 PM

I'm public on my support on this idea.

I think it's a great idea if it's followed up with a call to action of some kind. It's a great attention-grabber, but ultimately a waste of money if you don't try to do anything constructive once you have their attention.

DaFace 10-06-2012 08:07 PM

For what it's worth, I'm mainly just curious to see if we have a silent minority around here who don't really like it. I know message boards sometimes get wrapped up in a bit of groupthink (though I personally do support the banner).

Bump 10-06-2012 08:07 PM

hell yes!

**** those people on the news that said it's not a good idea. 40 yr old women think Cassel and Pioli are awesome.

Marcellus 10-06-2012 08:08 PM

I equate it with being at a game when I was happy with the team and screaming my guts out in their support, leaving with a hoarse voice feeling like I contributed to the effort.

Now I am pissed and tired of the BS and feel like this is this is something I actually contributed to that will voice my displeasure in a way that will be noticed.

I thought about using that as an option, but didn't want to make this seem like a "tell us who you are so we can make fun of you" thread.

I understand the need for it, and I like the fact that it brings attention to the situation we're in as fans...

But...eh. Kind of lame.

Lex Luthor 10-06-2012 08:12 PM

I think it will ultimately be just as effective as the walkout of the Royals game organized several years ago by Kevin Keitzman.

Unsmooth-Moment 10-06-2012 08:12 PM

It's pretty cool. I'm on board

Bowser 10-06-2012 08:13 PM

I'm on board with it.

Plus, this kind of thing is more effective when it gets media run, which it has. Pioli has to be shitting his diaper over the thought of it, especially considering what an apparent control freak he is when it comes to his image.

Bugeater 10-06-2012 08:13 PM

The fans need some kind of voice.

Munson 10-06-2012 08:15 PM

Yes. I support anything that will rid us of Cassel and Pioli.

Bump 10-06-2012 08:15 PM

ElGringo 10-06-2012 08:21 PM

I think the idea is solid, but the media hype has honestly hurt it. With the media hype there is no need for the banner itself, word is out. I think it would have been better as a surprise with the media coming after. Now when Pioli, Clark, the front office, and all those that matter, well, they know, and won't care.

I think it could be worded better. It should have a message that's passionate in love for the team but demanding Pioli be fired. Cassel is just one aspect of a problem with many facets, which is all Pioli. Cassel, whether its now or after a handful more games, has punched his own ticket out of the starter's job. Pioli is what we have to push for. Something like "Save Our Chiefs! Fire Pioli!"

But, the heart is in the right place. I'm on board.

Meh. The stadium will still be packed and when Cassel has that 1 game of the year the stadium will be roaring.

Pasta Little Brioni 10-06-2012 08:58 PM

Yup

BoneKrusher 10-06-2012 08:59 PM

i think something had to be done.
it would've been nice if Pioli had gotten a real QB and benched Cassel w/o a distraction.
therefore He and Cassel need to GTFO.

The stadium will not be packed. Wasn't at halftime of last week.

The fans are going to demand change, and Clark's will need to act out of fear for his wallet, which is his first passion.

Bolded the important part.

If Cassel isn't turning the ball over and the Chiefs are winning/competitive the stadium won't be emptying.

The banner is a good idea, just handled the wrong way.

This may be like Haley yelling at Cassel last year. Every time he did Cassel seemed to play better. ****... wouldn't that suck. I will blame you all if he does.

In what way? The message is clear, direct, and attacks the primary problems in the appropriate order: Pioli and Cassel.

(Above before your edit.)

luv 10-06-2012 09:04 PM

I thought it was kind of tacky at first. After reading the reasoning, how strongly people feel, and how much it seems to have brought this community of posters together, I will help out as much as I can, although I cannot afford to do so monetarily.

If you want to make a change you attack the wallet of the owner. Arrowhead is still going to be packed.

Season tickets are already sold and TV dollars drive the league.

Embarrassment and public attention are the best routes at this point.

Arrowhead hasn't been packed for quite some time, with maybe the exception of the on playoff game a few years ago.

That's the way it is in Los Angeles as well.

Fans DEMAND that ownership puts a great product on the field, court, rink, etc.

There's no pussy-footing around and certainly no one like Deb. (For the record, I don't condone insulting an old woman that's clearly out of her element).

In the last few years, I don't know how many times I've heard rival fans come into Arrowhead Stadium and say, "THIS is supposed to be the loudest stadium in the NFL? ___________(fill in rival fan stadium name) is MUCH louder than this." Or how many times we get shit for leaving early as we're walking up the stairs.

IMO, not only are people saying they won't spend money on the game, they're saying they'd rather spend that money on something such as this. I think it's makes a statement.

Ace Gunner 10-06-2012 09:15 PM

I like the spirit of it. I think it could have impact, we'll just have to wait & see.

I would rather PRC put a billboard together, to me that will help too. And I would like Wendler to design the graphics and text, pretty much all of it. But that's just me.
