Have you ever shot somebody?
The thread from that Rain Man guy makes me curious.
In the movies, we see the bad guys shoot and shoot and hit nothing while the good guys hit their target every single time. In real life, I know one guy who shot some dude in the foot while arguing over who ate the last bon bon. He said that it was really really easy to hit someone even when you don't mean to and he expressed skepticism about the movie people missing every shot. However, he wasn't in a fight for his life, so it's possible that his adrenaline wasn't running on overdrive. So has anyone here shot someone? How did you feel in the first five minutes? First five hours? Next day? I recognize that the outcome may be different depending on who you shot, so please note who you shot if you have a story to tell. Include the caliber too, if known. I made the poll multiple choice for those of you who have shot multiple people. For the record, I shot a hobo with an arrow once, but it just grazed him. Other than a scrape, he had no problem and could have easily mounted a crazy hobo counterattack had he been concious. R8ers, OctoberFart, and Over-Head, I'm looking your way... |
I've shot a girl in the face with my load.
That's about it though. |

Yes, I shot my friend with a BB rifle when we were teens. He shot me first, though.

Many in Afghanistan. Felt nothing, no remorse, regret, or ambivalence. Like shooting rats. Now shooting someone here or in a non-cobat situation it would eat me up on the inside unless it was in the course of protecting myself or my family. Even then I would be haunted by it my entire life.

with bb guns dozens, but I did shoot the neighbor kid with a bow and target point. We convinced his Grandma that he did it on a fence.
