Thought this might warm a few hearts, there are some very interesting stories behind some of these animal rescues... like the hippo saving a wildebeast and a zebra, or the dolphin that saved a beached whale, i had no idea dolphins could (seemingly) communicate with whales...

My mom used to have an old female mutt lapdog. When I raised chicks a few years I'd bring them to her house when visiting. Damn dog would stand by the box and growl and bite at you if you tried to reach in the box. She just loved little animals and always claimed them.

My niece has two dogs, one a 14 yo blind female mix and a 6 yo GreatDane mix. When the Dane was 2, they were in the front yard. The niece asked the Dane if she wanted to go for a walk. The Dane went over to the blind dog and picked up the leash of the blind dog in her mouth. To this day she leads the blind one that way when they go walking.

Inter species love is always hot. I mean nice.
