MEATLOAF...what's in yers? [merica!]

Nothing screams 'Merica than some good OL fashion meatloaf...and that's what's on the menu at the Tomahawk household tonight.

But it got me thinking..everyone has their own spin on making meatloaf, what are some of your key ingredients?

I like to add bacon, sweet peppers, and extra honey mustard to mine.

Onion, a little garlic, bread or cracker crumbs, an egg or two, maybe some sweet peppers once in a while, with ketchup and a layer of bacon on top.

I dont get too fancy with it, I go with the KISS theory on my meatloaf.

Do you cook your bacon before putting it on the meatloaf? 350 degrees for an hour doesn't seem long enough to cook bacon in an oven...I could be wrong.

I usually cook mine, then chop it up and mix it in...

I use crushed Cheez-Its opposed to breadcrumbs.

Flax seed, quinoa, oats, beets, zucchini, squash, carrots, amaranth flour, onions, garlic, etc.

You know, the good stuff.

Maybe I just haven't had it right but meatloaf is not good.

Nope, the bacon goes right on top of the ketchup raw and comes out just right, all that beautiful bacon fat just melts all over the loaf, mmm.

A good vegan "meatloaf" will rock your world.

You're doing it wrong...

I cook my bacon on a cookie sheet at 375 for 18 minutes. Comes out perfect. I like the cheez it addition.
