If Tampa wins, we'll be 2.5 behind Cleveland for the last WC spot.

If Tampa loses, we'll be 2 games behind Texas/Tampa, who will be tied for the last WC spot behind Cleveland.

I guess that's true... but only because the Pirates clinched a winning season a week or two ago.

TB and BAL going to 11th.

-King- 09-20-2013 09:20 PM

Nevermind, I see it now. Thought Tampa was playing Cleveland for some reason.

tk13 09-20-2013 09:20 PM

The problem with Tampa losing is Baltimore would stay ahead of us. If Tampa wins, we'll be another half game out of the WC but tied with Baltimore.

WE WANT TAMPA TO LOSE, BALTIMORE HAS A BITCH SCHEDULE.

We need for this to get really tight if we don't win out!

DeezNutz 09-20-2013 09:22 PM

The math isn't in our favor, and therefore the Royals likely will not make the playoffs.

However, it seems pretty hard to argue right now that the season has not been a success on the whole. It might be a baby step, but becoming relevant seems like a pretty big deal right now.

-King- 09-20-2013 09:22 PM

Figuring out time travel is simpler than figuring out these wild card situations.

Its easier to pass both of them if Tampa loses. Remember, Cleveland's schedule is cake, they might end up as hot as we hope we'll be, so maybe we'll need to take TB's spot.

I love this poetry. If only a certain QB and RT could get tangled up in one of its stanzas.

SPchief 09-20-2013 09:24 PM

Either way, I want to keep our elimination number higher. With the way this team is playing, the longer their in it, the more chances they have to win it. They've proven they can handle big games when it matters.

Yeah, but if Tampa gets swept by Baltimore, we'll just be chasing Baltimore instead of Tampa. Baltimore plays Toronto then 3 against Boston who has clinched. Tampa plays the Yankees next week. Tough call.

Nightfyre 09-20-2013 09:26 PM

I am rooting for Baltimore simply because I could see the Ray's WC spot opening up and Baltimore has a tough schedule. Mostly I think were just rooting for no two teams to run away from us in the last 10 or so games.

That's where I've been at. Let Cleveland run away with the 1st wildcard and let the east beat up on each other while we keep winning.

It is, but technically the Royals have held the lead for a couple weeks. It was worded a bit strangely I think.

It's really simple, who ever the 1 & 2 WC team is, we want them to lose. Then if anybody between us loses, it's extra icing on the cake.

We just have to keep winning..... Tomorrow, we win and TB & Cleveland loses!

Keep on winning!

Thats fine. If Baltimore loses, they aren't magically out, it'd just be a feel-good thing for us to see the Royals catch another team, but as of right now, our elimination number goes down if TB wins.

They are saying that 2 weeks ago the PITT streak kinda of ended because they clinched a winning season.

So for 2 weeks the Royals have held the record.

It isn't a big deal at all. Now someone else has the longest active streak.

oh, and this would be a hilarious outcome NO ONE predicted. Everyone penciled in the #1 and #2 wild cards for the AL West and AL East, with some thinking the East might take both.

But if both wild cards go to the central? LOL

I don't see how it is even a question--you want the team farthest ahead to lose. The only possible exception is if we had games against that team, but that's not the case.

another exception might be if the lower team had an easy schedule coming up, but thats not the case here. The birds are gonna get murdered by the Red Sox.

9-7 vs them and they will have nothing to play for.

oh, and this would be a hilarious outcome NO ONE predicted. Everyone penciled in the #1 and #2 wild cards for the AL West and AL East, with some thinking the East might take both.

But if both wild cards go to the central? LOL

This is the Royals only real shot imo.

There's a chance they could be playing for seeding.

If it meant the Royals in the playoffs I would gladly build a fallout shelter and hope for the best.

If we made the playoffs and got better weather next year than we had early this year, I wonder if we'll be able to average 24,700. Thats what you need to sell 2 million tickets.
