Maybe McNair's death bummed him out so much he didn't want to play anymore.

Not a HOF'er, but a very respectable career.

Derrick Mason surprisingly announced his retirement from pro football Monday.

The announcement comes on JockLife.com, a website owned by Mason's agents Peter Schaffer and Lamont Smith. It's legit. Mason was coming off shoulder surgery and requested a pay raise earlier this offseason, but says this decision is based more on emotions. "Emotionally I am just not that enthused." Assuming Mason doesn't change his mind, the Ravens are woefully thin at wideout with Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams atop the depth chart. Art Monk

940 Receptions / 12721 Yds / 68 TDs

Mason is one or two good seasons away from matching Monk's HOF numbers.

I don't think that is even mathematically possible.

Technically it is if he averaged 85 yards per catch.

Wow, I was just about to draft the guy in our alternative football league.

he had a great career, good player.

I don't think that he could have that few touchdowns with that average, which is what I was getting at.

I understand where you are coming from, but Mathematically its possible.

The yardage, yeah. But the football field is only 100 yards. If he is averageing 85 per catch, then I think that he'd have more than 68 TDs.

The Ravens (my "other" team) were already in need of receiving help. As of now, their top two guys are Mark Clayton and Demetrius Williams. Look for Anquan Boldin's name to surface again soon.

His YAC numbers were terrible.

Good for him giving some rookie a shot.

Bring him in for a look.
