Kinda weird that the MSM has completely avoided all reporting on this development.

Might have something to do with - they are absolutely panic-stricken that if Catalonia spins out of Spain, the Basque region will spin out of Spain, Bavaria will spin out of Germany, Silesia will spin out of Poland, - and so on -and then you havenít got an EU anymore?

This is good.

(((kind of weird)))

It's not on Fox News, either. No worry, the BBC has got you covered.

patteeu 11-12-2017 09:01 AM

Why do they want independence?

Eleazar 11-12-2017 09:52 AM

I'm guessing the lack of coverage might be because less than 1% of the United States even knows what Catalonia is, let alone that there is some news happening there.

That doesn't stop them from pushing other narratives that have very little interest. Clock boy, Trump's eating habits, and Roy Moore come to mind.

They don't consider themselves Spanish, there has been a long history of the Spanish government suppressing and sometimes trying to exterminate Catalonian culture, they are the biggest part of the Spanish economy and feel that Madrid is not responsive to them. They are more liberal than the rest of Spain.

Its just a passing fad

ptlyon 11-12-2017 10:54 AM

Did they just find out Hilary lost?

AustinChief 11-12-2017 04:58 PM

The rest of Spain has been suckling at the Catalan teat for far too long. The easy solution for this is to give Catalunya economic independence but keep them as part of Spain otherwise. I say "easy" but other Spanish regions like Andalucia may collapse under their own lethargy if that happens.

Dang, thats pretty impressive... Spain better be careful

Catalonia is one of Spainís most populous and richest regions. The gap between what Catalans pay in taxes and what they get back in services is around Ä8bn-10bn a year, something that got worse following the recession and the austerity measures implemented in the wake of the crisis of 2008-2009. The grievance is that Catalonia doesn't get its fair share of public investments.

They are getting royally ****ed.

it would be like California wanting to leave the US.
