Something doesn't jive here. If the 9ers were interested in him early in the 3rd, how come they didn't get him in the 4th or early 5th when he still was available? :shrug:

I wondered the same thing. Did the 49ers maybe take another LB instead of Boomer, making their need for him obsolete?

I like the pick alot i think he is going to be a beast on special teams :thumb:

They didn't take any LBs in this draft. They took Frank Gore and OL Adam Snyder in the 3rd, and DT Ronnie Fields in the 5th.

If this kid ends up being something special, the swapping of fifth rounders with the Phins will make Peterson look like a genious.

Maybe Carl and crew have learned about draft value. Probably not. I'm sure next year they'll draft another Kawika Mitchell in the 2nd that should have waited until the 5th.
The Niners probably looked at Boomer and thought he was a very good player, but team needs overruled, as they often did in this draft.
